guys do you encounter freezing of the PS3 not just in game but from starting the game as well? The bioware EA start-up logo was beginning to load & then it stop/freeze. The HDD indicator orange light of the PS3 slim continuously (not flashing, blinking) but always on. I was worried that my PS3 was broke, or the data (saved games & downloaded games/dlc) was corrupted. Hard reset wont work. Have to unplug the power cord. AS I turn it on, same thing happen this time loading of the PS3 logo freeze with the orange light always ON. Perhaps I did it three times (unplug the power cord & then turn on the Ps3) before finally it was okay.

Have not played a game yet on my PS3, worried it might be broken for good.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me after about 10 hard resets. Did you get the other warning signs as well (crazy long loading times in XMB, system not recognizing controller on start-up unless it was plugged in etc.)?

I thought it was the HDD, so I spent 2 days doing a full back up/format. The system worked fine for a few days, until I started playing me3 multiplayer again and now it's the same **** all over again...

It has not come to that point yet, hope it doesn't.  My slim seems to be okay for now.  What I do notice is that long hours spend playing ME3, increases the chance of the lag encountered in MP, and the unexpected hang-up/freeze. What I do now is to stop playing after two hours, turn off the PS3. And resume after 15 minutes.  It also allows my eyes/body chance to rest.  Playing for extended long hours though is not good for (the body/health).

The game did not kill your console. Your console killed itself.

People need to stop making this accusation, it's hilarious really

Is this some kind of joke? The game 100% killed my console. I keep all of my equipment in excellent condition, As I had mentioned I just finished a handful of other games which were all over 20 hours in length without a single freeze/hiccup. Playing Mass Effect 3 on the PS3 and getting countless freezes (due to poor programming) is undeniably the game.

system not recognizing controller on start-up unless it was plugged in:

This may have to do with what you connect your controller into to charge it. I found out that my dualshocks do exactly that after being plugged in to Linux (Fedora) pc. It seems like the controller "couldn't really figure out" whether to try and control the laptop or ps3, and (predictably) worked with neither until plugged in.

Hmmmm wouldn't call that "poor programming"... "Extremally poor porting attempt" seems more appropriate.

Nah, it's not that, only thing I connect my controllers to is the PS3...

Anyway, for anyone caring, I did went through the trouble of formatting againg and replacing my HDD with a brand new Seagate Hybrid 500Gb. My PS3 works like brand new and loading times have been significantly improved.
I just won't touch ME3 multiplayer again, at least not until a stability patch is released...

Messing around with hard freezes is like playing russian roulette with your console. I have a slim as well. My console still works but it only takes one wrong freeze to turn your HDD into a paperweight. Again, I strongly recommend anybody who is experiencing hard freezes to stop playing until a patch is released.

From a tweet today we could know what is in the next patch sometime next week.

Just saw it.

It's good to hear that a patch is coming soon. Hopefully, they've been listening to our complaints.

Know you already saw it but I will post it here so others don't have to dig for it if they are interested.

RT @BioEvilChris: Looks like ME3 Patch 3 is coming along well. Hopefully will be able to discuss the contents later next week. #ME3

Oh great, another let down. That twit means diddly squat. If they were actually going to fix game/console breaking issues, the last place we should be looking at are vague promiseses on twitter. Just fix this crap. I dont care if it takes another three months, just do it. Nike. Hopefully before we brick all our HDDs.

No matter how you spin it, a upcoming patch is always good news. We'll determine it's effectiveness AFTER it's released. I'm not trying to silence you(keep fighting the good fight) but this is what we've been asking for all this time. Let's give them a chance to redeem themselves.

Again, STOP PLAYING THIS GAME UNTIL AFTER THE PATCH IS RELEASED!

Did BWdo the ps3 port themselves or was it contracted out? If the initial port was contracted I could totally understand the silence and delay in patching.
