Did you read the Codex? Earth needed help but wasn't getting it. After many failed attempts Udina tried to take over the Council thereby forcing every other species to help Earth. No one was supposed to die but TIM screwed everything up

Add it to the list of failed cerberus operations.

People didn't like him, so bioware made him evil and had you shoot him. Can't have multidimensional characters.

He wasn't evil.  Did you even read the thread before you posted?
Because you obviously didn't read what was available in the game.

I don't think he was indoctrinated; I think he was a scared politician who ran out of options. Scared politicians are dangerous and often stupid.

I really don't think he was indoctrinated. I think it's a simple matter of him conforming to the Illusive Man's philosophy of control rather than destroy. There was some hints back in the Conviction comic.

he´s pro human, always has been.
so it didnt really came as a surprise to me when he joined the cerberus bandwagon and did what (he thought) would be best for humanity.

I thought Pallin got killed by Bailey in the comic?

He did but there was a lot in there that also implied Udina was up to something as well.

The idea, I think, is that Pallin was killed for his involvement in the raid agaisnt Cerberus involving Anderson and Sanders in Retribution.

I think TIM took advantage of our frustration over the council not doing squat for us and offered to "help" Udina.

I told a friend days before ME3 came out that I had started to like Udina.

1. Anderson hates the job. I want to give it to him because I don't want him to be working under Udina, but let's face it - Anderson hates the job so damn much, it makes me so sad to see him in that office, wasting away. I'd honestly rather give the job to someone in politics.

2. Just because people don't see ambition, chess-like political movements, and goals outside of being Shepard's cheerleader as good virtues doesn't mean they aren't.

3. I honestly think he does a better job than the Council. This isn't because they're aliens, I'm so pro-alien in this game it's not even funny, but the Council is incompetent. Udina might have been skeptical of Shepard and Shepard's dreams of the Reapers, but a) his push was still what helped Shepard become a Spectre quicker and B) the Council outright denies anything happened in the 2nd game despite what they saw with their own eyes. They're way bigger ****s than Udina is, in my book.

So at the start of ME3, I couldn't believe my eyes. Udina, actually on my side? Actually proving that I was right in wanting to like and respect him?

And then... and then.

Udina. What - what are you doing. No. No, don't pull that gun. Give me an option to talk him down, ME. I know you will, I know - Kaiden, no, don't, no, NO, NO....

I was so angry. Not because of Udina, but because ME has given me choices in this exact same situation before. Anyone remember Balak? DLC villain, but you at least have a choice what to do with him. Your choices with Udina? A) Shoot him yourself, or B) Let your VS shoot him. WHAT AMAZING CHOICES.

JUST LIKE THE END OF THE GAME RIGHT?

It just stuns me. Udina had good goals if you read the Codex - even if they were gone about in the TOTALLY wrong way, no disagreement there - he should have been EXCEPTIONALLY easy to talk down.

And yes, I would have talked him down. Poor bastard.

What the Codex says is not absolute. It is written in-universe.

Power hungry. If you talk to him, he mentions how he now has more power than any other human in history, or something else allong those lines.

I doubt if he was indoctrinated.  Misguided and frustrated, certainly, but not indoctrinated.  He saw an ally in Cerberus, that's about it.

He probably has been helping Cerberus for a while, he's very Pro-human. Whether that or not, it's likely he felt that he was running out of options and needed to do something. I don't agree with it, but I understand.

Power Greedy, that's all he ever was, and that's all he will be known for.

Oh, and a patriot to some degree.

I felt he was a jerkface the whole time. And I shot him, so he can't report my post for personal attacks.

Even ignoring the Codex it came across to me that he was more scared and desperate then anything else.
