So why pay $60 again when it will be $40 2 weeks later?

The answer is obvious, I got baited by "Pre order DLC"  but now that EA has lowered the price on the console version.. I'm left wondering if I will ever buy a $60 game again from EA

Yeah, I was rather disappointed to see the price drop so quickly. I understand that it's the holiday season and all, but I expected the game to remain at its initial price for at least 5-6 months. I want my $20 back. :P

If you didn't think $60 was a fair price, why did you pay it?

If you did think $60 was a fair price, then you have no reason not to be happy with your purchase.

That someone now can buy the game for less has no bearing at all on how much you paid or what game you get to play - the other factors that can reasonably impact your enjoyment of the product and your view of the transaction.

Your position, Seifz, is absurd.

It's not at all absurd. Luring us in with pre-order content and charging us $60, then dropping the price to $40 two weeks later is incredibly shady. Games don't drop in price that quickly, ever. When that $60 means that I get to play the game 5-6 months before the cheapskates, that's fine. When all it buys me is 2 weeks, that's BS.

I think I used Shale for about 30 minutes total, just to level it up and assign skills and gear.

Uncharted 2 pulled the same $60 to $40. I was just so hard up for a party based RPG on a console I was willing to pre order.... Oh well, EA got my money, I learned my lesson, just wait it out, the pre order bonuses are not really all that great.

Assassin's Creed 2 is now officially in the "not for $60, no way guy" camp now

you wanted it on release day and not weeks later.

thats why.

you can complain about the dlc stuff and whatever else, but thats all nonsense. the reality is you wanted the game the day it came out. you were hyped up and excited, you had to have it. the end.

Yeah, the game companies pull crap like this and then act shocked when people turn to piracy. Go figure.

Everyone buying the game for $40 gets Shale, too.  All you got if you pre-ordered was a ring that doesn't work properly (Memory Band) and possibly one other retailer-exclusive item (e.g. Feral Wolf Charm, Guildmaster's Belt).

huh? Looks like the price dropped by $10. Thought it was a standard thing for console games to drop by $10 after they sell so many copies (around 1 Million or so I think), because after that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft no longer take any royalties.

Yeah I think that's why it burns.  The early adopters get kind of "facialed" because the pre order bonuses were not that great and 2 weeks later the MSRP is $20 off.

EA wins in the short term, they got both Pre Orders and the $40 post orders.

However in the future, I will remember this transaction and the result will be I will never Pre Order an EA game again.

$20 for a lesson I should have learned long ago I suppose.  I stopped pre ordering from Gamestop back in the 1990s, but I got sucked in to DAO and Uncharted 2.

No one to blame but me, I'm the one who paid the $60 (well, $54.99 no tax free shipping)

When pay $40 for it when you can wait 20year and get if for a dollar.  Its because we want the game then and not want to wait for the pay to drop.

Wait, they still get the Shale thing too?  Ouch, now the lesson stings a bit more.   Hope EA enjoy's that $20 a lot, it wont happen again, my mistake

i'm going a step further, I love this ame at all but if it is EA's policy to basicaly rip off peopel that buy the game early, I'm simply not buying any more EA games at release, I will start buying them used so EA gets no revenue at all from me.  Treating your customers poorly rarely works out well in the long run.

Yeah because "20year" and 2 weeks are totally the same.

Well I don't know about you but I also wanted to be able to own a CE and those sold out moths ahead of time just like the ME2 CE is starting to become scarce and will likely soon be sold out. I preordered early, got the extra content and I don't regret it. That and I'm a sucker for preorder bonuses.

How is that shady?

Did they honestly advertise the price at release?  Yes.

Did you get the game you thought you were getting?  Yes.

What else is there?  Things that happen after your purchase CANNOT reasonably impact how you feel about that transaction.  That's like saying that whether you enjoyed your life can be affected by things that happen after you die.

oh, wait, I see. If you guys got the console version, non CE the price dropped by $10. PC Digital version by $15, and Digital Deluxe by just under $20.

Anyways, it is only a promotion for the season. So if you guys want to buy EA games at their promotion offer, you'll have to wait for the Holiday season to buy games, cause you won't be seeing these kinds of promotions any other time during the year.

Also, EA has done nothing different then what I have seen every retail store has ever done.  I have bought stuff from stores, only to find out that it went on sale 2 weeks later.  It happens, this is nothing new or original.  You guys are just blowing this out of proportion.  Turning a mole hill into a mountian.

Buyer's remorse, when evidence exists that it is justified, is a classical example of cognitive dissonance. One will either seek to discount the new evidence, or truly regret and try to renounce the purchase.

I paid $60 because I wanted the game shortly after its release. If it is cheaper now, so be it. I certainly don't feel ripped off or anything... this game rules!

Because I'm slow to have bought the game (wasn't sure if I'd like it, so I rented it and will be getting it as a christmas gift), but not slow enough that I managed to order a collector edition online before futureshop sold out, I'm just curious: what do you get from the collector edition vs non-collector edition? A map and 3 in-game items? Both get Shale, but do both get the free download of Stone Prisoner?

I'm asking because I actually am waiting for my collector edition to arrive, and then it'll be put away for Christmas (so it's unopened and can be returned). If there isn't much of a difference, maybe I should return it and get the non-collector edition instead.

Both versions can get Stone Prisoner, which is Shale. The CE comes with with extra items, Bonus disk with music, wallpaper and the making of, and a cloth map.

CE do not get Warden's Keep DLC with it.  Only the Digital Deluxe versions for the PC get Warden's Keep included, which is the same price as the CE physical version.
