So why pay $60 again when it will be $40 2 weeks later?

I wasn't excited to play L4D and so I just waited until it went on sale and got it for $15 dollars instead of $40+ which seemed ridiculous to me. If you can wait and you want to be frugal then be patient. Otherwise, you're going to spend the money to buy it at launch. It is choice that you make depending how much you value what you are buying.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the game for $60 dollars when there is the possibility it will be cheaper. A lot of new games were really cheap for the Steam thanksgiving sale. It's upsetting to buy something and have the value drop right away but that's retail.
No, that's not just retail. New games never drop $20 in price two weeks after release. It happens so rarely that you can probaby count the number of games on your fingers. It just doesn't happen.
Sloth had it right. If EA is going to keep treating their customers poorly, I'm going to stop buying their games. At the very least, I'm not pre-ordering anything from them again.

A place I worked at for a few years used to have a giant tent sale every summer on flooring, and that worked out fine. We did good sales but our figures didn't drop during non-sale times. Then the company decided to have 2 sales per summer. Then a one sale in the spring, 2 in the summer and one in the fall. Suddenly things weren't working so well, staff on the floor kept hearing customers say "They always have this on sale anyways, lets just wait".
When your customers decide there is no reason to pay full price for things, it will hurt your business in the long run. Sure the initial sales figures look great, but once people don't fee confident of your pricing, you lose them for good.

If your PC can handle it, you would be better in getting the superior version, the PC version. Then instead of buying the CE version of the Xbox 360 version $75, get the PC version Digital Deluxe from EAstore for $45, and you get Warden's Keep with it as well. The only thing you'll be missing from the CE is the box and Cloth map that is hard to read anyways, and Making of Dragon Age on the DvD.
Remember PC version you'll get to use the user created mods as well.

Wow. I gotta say people on these boards are impressing me. Just when you think people couldn't come off as bigger whiny self-entitled babies, somebody new proves you wrong. It's just a special price during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. Tons of newly released games went down to $40 at certain places, including Brutal Legend, Left 4 Dead 2, Fallout 3:GOTY edition, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, Forza 3, Halo 3:ODST...the list goes on. Look it up at Amazon right now.
Besides that's the deal with everything. You buy it day one, you pay full price. Stop blaming companies for your own lack of willpower.
Or just stick to Activision. Don't worry, they'll charge you $60 for Modern Warfare 2 for a long time! How nice of them to treat their customers so well!

Meh the point here isn;t that the game came down in price, that is a given. nor is it that we just happened to buy the game right before it went n sale or something....that is also fairy common. The problem is that the game has droped in price by a third only a couple weeks after release. Is this supposed to encourage peopel to go out and buy games? Because it won't.
Thank you, this isn't "buyers remorse" or "cognitive dissonance" It's "wait a second, brand new popular game X is $20 cheaper 2 weeks later????"
As others mentioned, this almost never happens, and usually only happens w/ crap shovelware. I don't "regret" my purchase and have "remorse" about it. I simply have an opinion about my transaction.
I legally did "get what was advertised" I got "pre order bonuses" but those "bonuses" turned out to be nothing of interest and the rapid price drop of DAO coupled with other big name games like Uncharted 2 has taught me to view this $60 "next gen" tax with even more suspicion.
I'm just one man posting my opinion about a transaction. I did indeed get what I paid for, I will just avoid similar transactions in the future.
I bit on the pre order "Bonus" adverts, I got hooked like a fish, a mark, a sucker, a pawn, etc... EA got an extra $20 out of me 3 weeks ago.
Congrats to them. I will be more careful next time is all. I'm not saying I will never buy an EA game again or a Bioware game. I've bought MANY Bioware games and will continue to buy them NEW.
Fight Night Rd 4 is another EA game w/ heavy DLC model that comes to mind.... although I waited for the $30 price point on that one, it took quite a few months.

Looks like to me EA is having their 1 time a year sale just like your old company did.
So sure, I guess you could wait that 1 time a year to buy EA games from their EA store. Which means that game that gets released in January that you wanted you'll wait till November/December to buy it so you can get the sale price.

Denial is a defense mechanism postulated by Sigmund Freud,
in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to
accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite
what may be overwhelming evidence.

Way to make up facts. Since not every country is America, your retarded explanation of 'black friday' doesn fly. My sister works at EB ames and they have -permanantly-lowered the price of all version by $18, not 'for a holiday in another country'.
Go troll elsewhere if you are just going to make crap up.

I know, it's why I'm wondering if I made the right choice or not. Thing is it sounds like the pc version is a bit more difficult, and I'm more casual gamer than hardcore (I was on normal on xbox and it was a good difficulty I don't want to have to do easy on pc). Also I've been loving using my xbox controller for the controls in the game, what if I don't care for using the computer controls? I'm left-handed and I use the mouse on my left hand side plus... I use a laptop so not sure how great it'd run on it.
I'm also unsure about digital copies, I guess if you ever need to re-download you can access it through your EA account I guess?
I actually got the collector edition on sale, futureshop had a 10% off all games, so I got the game at 10% off (which still meant more than a digital download copy).
I think since this post is very side-tracked, plus I want more advice so I'll make a thread asking for pros, and cons and such.

Digital copies you can redownload as much as you want. If you buy through EA Store, then you use EAdownload Manager program to do this.
Everything else you said, is your personal preference.

I've read that you can also register your physical copy with EA and download a digital version with the EA Download Manager. I can't confirm that, but it's worth checking out.

While I personally prefer the PC version, I do kind of prefer the PC version for most things. Reading this paragraph says I would recommend you stick with the console version, at least until there's a way for you try out the PC version before you buy, and also have someone else check your laptop specs.Lady Rivinn wrote...

It's that time of year and EA/Bioware must be looking to increase market share rather than pure profit at this point. Not a bad plan if your long term goal is promoting DLC having a large installed base can make future DLC a profitable endeavor. However, I could just be completely off base here and talking out of my ass with no real clue as to what is going on.

I paid $46.99 at release for my PC copy it's down to $37.95 at the cheapest place I can find. A few downloaded pre order bonus trinkets and 3 weeks of play earlier than the price doesn't bother me any. If I had paid the full $60.00 for a console version I would likely be a bit upset at the $20.00 price tag difference.

Console version went down by $10 during this Promotion at EA Store. It even states it is a Promo, so that price will come up, probably tomorrow going by their website.

What the man said (and without pictures this time).
Everybody knows prices drop given time. If you feel that getting the game early was worth spending that much money then there's no problem and if you think that it was not worth its price you shouldn't have bought it in the first place.

Seifz, this is a sale price, not a drop in price because it has been out for a long time. This drop in price is temporary.
I find it funny that people are claiming foul for this, when sales are a very very common thing. What, is there some kind of law that says a Publisher can't have a sale on their prices, but it is ok for places like Gamestop, Amazon, Steam, ect to have them?
