He did use the word "genuinely."
They rack up a fan base millions strong worldwide on the basis of strong gameplay, compelling characters and story, then end it by writing the most hackneyed, cliche riddled epilogue in the history of gaming, after saying repeatedly they wouldn't do that...... and the reaction surprised them?
sigh.
