Yeah, and all the lore and setting we got to love and enjoy were based on that reaper technology. So what, if they "have" to go free of their tech? Everything we know under the name Mass Effect is about it. How the hell will we be able to call whatever setting comes next (if they ever go next) Mass Effect? It will probably so radically diferent we won't be able to identify ourselves with that anything.dfstone wrote...
The dark age thing isn't that bad of an idea. Basically the whole galactic civilization up until now has been living in a lie. All of it was set up by the Reapers. So in order for people to be free they have to go their own way, abandoning Reaper-Tech. So it does make sense.
What bothers me is the fact that the way its done basically means that everything you've done, all the things you've accomplished and all the people you've helped (paragon) or harmed (renegade) mean absolutely nothing. Its basically like Mass Effect 1, 2 and 90% of 3 were all pointless.
Shepard's story isn't finished. Mass Effect is finished.

I am speechless.
What really gets under my skin is that they are admitting with a happy face that this was their plan all along. Were they so deep in their own projections that they couldn't see the approaching ****storm of the century?
First i was disappointed.. now i am feeling something completely different.

Not to me. The relays aren't rings of power. There's nothing inherently bad about them. They are useful tools.
