They certainly didn't prepare one single fan for the ending of the entire Mass Effect Universe as we know it. All we were told was, "it's the end of Shepard's story". Bullspit, it's the end of the whole damn shebang, and that's ridiculous. I can't remember a company throwing out its IP like this, usually they hold on to the environments, backdrops, etc., and carry on from there to keep making money. Sheesh, they must have really been tired of relays, citadels, and Shepard.
They expect to keep money milking it from prequels, but I just can't fathom why you'd go and limit a franchise like this.

The Dark Age idea doesn't really bother me. If that's what it takes to escape the grasp of the Reapers, I'm all for it.
Oh please. For what? For an old man to tell stupid stories to a child 10,000 years later?
I'll say it again. Might as well let the Reapers win.And the Dark Age part of the timeline has some serious potential for a future Mass Effect game, if they want to pursue that.
Like what? Mass Effect 4: Who Eats Who?
nope its Mass Effect 4: Shove the FTL Drive up a horses Rear ...

Spent over 200 hours and around 150 bucks on 3 games so I could do the enemy's job for them at the very end.
And that's all it really comes down to. Except we did it with more plot holes and messier plot devices. Basically the same thing, regardless of any of your choices over all 3 games (and that includes the entire last level really).
I don't see any way there could be a DLC made by April that can salvage this mess. I'd gladly pay full price for a real final level and ending even if it takes another year. Oh it'd be a crime no doubt and the last EA/Bioware thing I'd buy, but nevertheless I've put too much time into this series to let it go out in such a horrid fashion.

Unfortunately this is quite real.
Now, keep in mind that is a perfectly normal brainstorming page. Nothing wrong there.
Until we remember that... this is exactly what the endings ended up being...
Brainstorming notes SHOULD NOT be the final product EVER. <_<

I can't either, and I really, really, REALLY don't like the idea of prequels. I'm going to start calling it the George Lucas Disease.

10,000 years into the future there won't be any colonies that are really populated by more than 1 species, and as it's impossible for them to reach each other...
I got it! Mass Effect 4 can take place on Earth...
...with humans...
...fighting Russians...

How exactly does that disprove the indoctrination "theory"? It doesn't. In the text that is the meat and potatoes of that app it states that in the end of the game they had a sequence where the player loses complete control of Shepard. It was cut because they had issues with the dialogue.
They were trying to find a way to convey to the player that the Reapers were pouring it on old Shep and his indoctrination was being kicked into high gear.
There's absolutely nothing in those shots that negates Shepard being indoctrinated. One of the developer's even has a quote in the book part of that app talking about how no other being has been exposed to Reapers and Reaper tech than Shepard.
Did you even read the book part of the app?
"And even in november the gameplay team was still experimenting with an endgame sequence where players would suddendly lose control of shepards movements and fall under full Reaper control.(this sequence was ultimatly dropped because the gameplay mechanic proved too troublesome to implement alongside dialogue choices)."
That one? I interpereted that as the sequence where the the reapers could take control over you through the illusive man for the duration of that scene only
Edit : I couldnt find that quote about being exposed. But the last part of the final hours is what really sells me on this not being indoc.

They don't need to destroy the Relays to have a dark age, though. The Council is GONE, the galactic government is GONE, the economy will be a wreck wherever there isn't a volus, so ya, dark age. Destroying the relays and dumping everyone in Sol, it is the kind of tragedy that doesn't leave a satisfying ending. If Earth blew up to stop the Reapers and humans are left without a homeworld, that is the kind of tragedy that can still have a satisfying end.
Dark age can still work...

It can work... as one ending among many... one of the really really bad endings. But as EVERY ENDING? No thank you.

There was no back-and-forth between other writers or developers....
This is a ******* outrage, let me tell ya...
