Let's speculate:
If we all started a new Chip-In and bought one way tickets for the creative team of Bioware to Somalia or Afghanistan, do you think they would have a new appreciation of why we don't want to play their stupid dark age ending?
Afghanistan would actually be the more accurate of the two, if you want my historical opinion.![]()
Edmonton to Kabul $ 1580 CAD one way. We need three.

I'm sorry, but looking at those notes just makes me imagine things I'd like to do that I'd get banned for saying.
Mac
walters is our worst enemy within the company it seems. But don't let him get to you. If it makes you feel better, he's likely to get in trouble for constantly pissing off fans.
Yes, Mac Walters deliberately spent all of his eight years working on the Mass Effect franchise secretly planning to release an ending that destroys all of your hopes and dreams for the future, and this one screen capture of a scan of a note with scribbles on it is proof that he's the leader of the Illuminati who are deliberately trying to ruin your fun.

To be fair, I don't think they're literally meaning "dark age" as in ca 1000 AD. They mean "relays are destroyed, no more galaxy-hopping." It makes perfect sense, especially when you consider the many hints throughout the series that by using the Reaper tech, we are subservient to their plans.
So the best way to stop being subservient to their plans was to... pick from 3 choices provided by the Reaper commander and thus be subservient to their plans.
THIS MAKES SENSE.

I'd love it if the ending felt like first Matrix. Unfortunately it felt like third matrix.
My thoughts exactly. Did they even know what they wanted? They wanted bleak and depressing yet happy/uplifting like the end of Matrix 1? Matrix 1 ending had plenty of closure. I don't understand, what the hell did they want exactly? It felt like the end of Matrix 3. Pretty much terrible.

Yeah, I don't really understand the point in breaking the cycle, stop the reapers if the cost is...everything. All of the Mass Effect universe as we know. Everything we ever enjoyed, all the sense in the name of Mass Effect. Gone.CheeseEnchilada wrote...

I thought I couldn't be more dissatisfied with the ending...I was wrong.
Seriously. Why? You know, if ME1 and 2 hadn't ended on such uplifting notes and had this kind of bleak outlook, I wouldn't be so upset. But throwing in a Dark Age no matter what you do at the end of a serious that has had a 'defeat the odds!' theme through it and constant emphasis on choice...so frustrating. I respect their vision, but I wish this little tidbit was advertised, or I never would have bought the games in the first place.
I am having flashbacks of the 6th. Reliving the endings once more. I should go.
What...were...they...thinking?
Didn't ever go through their heads that we would ever felt like it was all for nothing? That we would feel a sense that Shepard lost anyway? As if some of the crap we ever gone through all of the journey hasn't been heartbreaking enough...

It's not likely that he meant the book. In no small part because the book doesn't have much of anything to do with the content of ME.
He was probably just using it as a phrase referring to the sense they were going for at the end that the universe had been reset.

What? I can understand failing to live up to month old promises, but this is just blatant lying on Walter's part.

Well, I can be optimistic here. Sure, it hurts, but his words also show me that Bioware HAS writers who know how they could have made the ending great, and I am hopeful that they LISTEN to these people more when they decide how to address the ending with this upcoming DLC.

I hate what these people did. Weekes was having a conversation with friends, evidently frustrated with the reaction to the terrible ending, and then all the news outlets out it. He could've lost his job for being completely honest.

Interestingly, the title of Chapter 11 is "The Perfect Illusion"
Not sure if they'll reference that in the details contained in the chapter, but I just wanted to share it..
edit - Meh...nothing.
Pulled some interesting quotes from the whole thing though. Some about the leaked script, smoe thoughts about game development, and such...
