NWN2 - played it around 3 times

Civilization IV - i spent months on this game

Sim City - see Civ IV

NBA 2K Series - what can i say? i love basketball

World of Warcraft - dear Blizzard, i'd like 3 years of my life back please.

with regards to DA:O i might play it at most 3 times. if the community becomes as robust as the NWN community, then i might play it for years

BG1 -- I actually played it a lot more than the second one. I like 'em both, but I just get into the first one more.

Fallout 2 -- I've only beaten it 2 or 3 times, but I played far into it with dozens of characters. Such a cool game.

WoW -- For 3 years, I didn't even bother with other games. $15 a month, and I was saving money.

Left 4 Dead -- I'm not surprised to see I'm not the only one. I've got like 350 hours played. That's just crazy for an FPS.

Nonsense. You played the game 3 times. Just admit you thought it was good. People -unless you are crazy - do not play games that 'suck' 3 times.

But it's true!  The original NWN1 campaign was quite terrible and boring!  At the time, I was huge into min/maxing characters and I thought that one of the best ways to test them was to bring them through the campaign.  I later discovered user-made content and levelup mods, but I didn't know about them right away.  Hell, I still had a dial-up connection back then.  Downloading mods was painful.

Oh yes, oh yes they DO play games 3 times that they think sucked.

And they see movies multiple times, too.

At least I have.  NWN I tried so hard to like, even with the mods others made.  I was waiting for that game a long time  - not as long as City of Heroes or DAO, true, but a long time. And I refused to be disappointed.  Only was a couple years ago I could amidt that I really dislike it. :crying:

Don't get me started about how many times I watched Phantom Menace trying to like it. :(

For this list, I'll draw the line between oldschool and newschool at NWN. I've been a pc gamer since the early 90's, so this timeline should be appropriate.

In no particular order,

Oldschool

Diablo

Sierra quest games in general. I won't list them all, but in particular king's quest 5 & 6 and quest for glory 2 & 3

Homeworld

Counter-Strike (lol - just quit about a year ago, but only because of the community)

Jagged Alliance 2 - beat it once, played it like 500 times.

Fallout 2 - same as above

Dungeon Siege 1&2

Baldur's gate II (when baldur's gate 1 came out, I was too new to d&d and found the concept too difficult to grasp at the time, so I only ever played it a little at a friend's house).

Arcanum (ahh, steampunk before it was cool)

Morrowind

Newschool

Nwn 2 (didn't like the solo aspect of nwn)

Halflife 2

Oblivion

CivIV probably tops the charts on how much I've played.

KOTOR 1 & II

VTM Bloodlines

PROTOTYPE ( I don't need to get anywhere in this game. I just hit the bong, leave my brain behind, and mindlessly kill things)

Left 4 Dead (thank you to those who mentioned it. Wouldn't have thought about it --see above reason why )

and now, DAO. I don't need to complete this game to know that I will play it many times over.

BG1, BG2 - played them from start to finish well over 10 times.

NWN1 online - lost about a year and a half of my life on a hard core server.

Total war

Civilization IV

UFO Defense.

I've only read the first several posts before making my post. I assume replay value assumes that a game can be finished; that there is some ending that either brings closure or unlocks additional content for subsequent plays.

If I've over-thought the question, and that replay more simply means played the most, or played many times, then I'd have to pick Battlefield 2 with Allied Intent Xtended mod for single player. Otherwise, for all other games that have a traditional ending that may or may not unlock additional content, then I'd have to choose Resident Evil 4 (Wii version); probably more so because the wii controls lend itself to FPS better than analog controls, I had such a good time playing over and over.

By "replayability", I am going to assume games that I have played more than once all the way through:

BG2

NWN

NWN2

Diablo

Diablo 2

Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VIII

I went through Mass Effect 10 times. That's the most replayability I've had out of a game in the last 10 years or so.

Oh, what a fun topic :)

Champions of Krynn (played it some 5 times or so)

BG (7 x)

BG 2 (5 x)

IWD (2 x)

NWN + expansions (I actually liked the expansions better, am a great fan of HotU) (5 x)

NWN 2 (3 x)

Gothic 1 + 2 (3 x each)

X3 - Reunion (3 x)

X3 - Terran Conflict (2 x, but I'm about to go for the third)

That's about it. I'm a big gamer :D

You know, Phantom Menace was horrible the first few times, but it's really grown on me.  I actually enjoy watching it, now.  It's no Empire, but it's not horrible anymore!  Now, Episode 2...  I just can't!  I've tried so hard!

TES III: Morrowind

GTA: San Andreas

Heroes of Might and Magic III

World of Warcraft

Warcraft III

These are all games that I played a lot when I first got them, and continue to play to this day (though I admit it's been a while since I last played warcraft 3, almost a year now, better dust it off again...)

* Planescape: Torment (best game ever!)

* BG series

* IWD series

* NWN/NWN2, especially Mask of the Betrayer (2nd best game ever)

* Might and Magic series 6-9, especially 6 and 7; 9 being a game with extreme potential but turned out to be one of the worst games ever - requires unofficial patches

* Diablo series

* Sacred Plus - only fun with Seraphim

* Temple of Elemental Evil - patched as much as possible, with both official and unofficial patches

i cant believe people list sacred2 as a good game. i think i spent all of an hour playing it before it got uninstalled and went in the 'give away to some poor sob' stack.

Yep, same here.
