Quick question...if you "break up" with Miranda during the in 1st reunion on the Citadel is she automatically destined to die later in the game? I only ask because she just died in my game and was surprised because outside of the break-up I believe I interacted with her as positive as possible throughout the other conversations.

Did you warn her about Kai Leng?

Yes, I can confirm she does die if you break up with her in the 1st convo. even if you did all the steps for her to survive.

She is a worthless character in ME3, kill her. You don't gain anything with her alive.

I was actually going to the Miranda thread just to post about breaking up with. I had heard she cried when it happened (saved before so I didn't get locked into it), but it was even worse than I had feared. I don't know about anyone else, but I was absolutely mortified when it happened.

Well she was worth 25 in the war effort if you saved her life.
I never romanced her.
Not my flavor.

She looks so damn sad, I just wanted to give her a hug!

She survives ME3 if unromanced in ME2.
At least she did in my playthrough. So guess only if you had a thing with her AND break up with Miri in ME3 might have dire consequences?

Gotta see if I can find a Youtube vid of Miri crying due to Shep breaking up with her. BW really should have @ss shot of Miri in the middle of her crying her eyes out.
EDIT
Oh I found it, that's so funny. I can't help but laugh at how she cried and ran away like a spoiled child who didn't get her way. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA man that's so rich! Good Stuff, Crying and running away cause she didn't get her way. HAHAHAH It's rich
I'm hearing Jack in the back of my mind
"The Cerberus Cheerleader didn't get her way. No she's gonna run away. Shepard you just made my day, Do you want a quickie? I'll f*ck ya right now it's the least I can do for ya after seeing that"
Shep does quickie and then Miranda kills herself. Oh WOW another suicide!

It got to me so much I reloaded and reversed a decision I was perfectly fine with before the cryingBringBackNihlus wrote...

Try to break up with Miranda in M2. I did. She didn't cry, and I wasn't in love with her anymore in M3 even if Ashley still mentions her case.

Thank you! I was assuming that this was the case....I'm a very cautious and slow game player as to try to not miss anything while playing. I'm at 50 hours now and still haven't started the Earth mission...so I would be shocked if I missed any chances to save her. As mentioned I did get the "crying break up scene" in an effort to rekindle my romance with Ashley...I guess its impossible then to not break her heart and still have her live! It's kind of crazy how attached to a videogame character you can get....I was truly upset when she still died even after she killed her dad and I saved her sister!

One does not simply break up with Miranda...

she died of a broken heart.
kind of why I created a different game for each romance so I didn't end up with problems like this.

Makes me feel even worse! LOL Especially because I never had any intention of romancing her in ME2; however, I ended up cheating on Ashley in my "canon" runthrough after the events on Horizon. I knew I wanted to rekindle a romance with Ashley in ME3, but man if I would have known that dumping Miranda killed her....don't think I would have even started the romance with her in ME2!
It is a really interesting dymanic...and I'm certainly not complaining....just was sad to see my ME2 love interest killed due to my unfaithfullness! haha

In my first playthrough I had romanced Liara in ME1 and Miranda in ME2. I didn't meet Miranda on the citadel when she first asked me to and when I met her later in the game I was already locked into a relationship with Liara. Miranda never brought up the relationship and she lived.

I tried it, but reloaded it. The animation is well done though. You can really feel her heart breaking.
