Bioware destroyed our favorite franchise.
Penny Arcade - with this thread - will destroy the HEART of the Retake Mass Effect movement.
GG. Once that happens trust me, we will never forget.
I said it in the other thread and I'll say it in this one.
WE DID GOOD.
This is not the time to get mired in a quagmire that will serve no one.
PA has to think about the long term effects that something like this can have on a charity, from their point of view it is undesirable to have it be labled "The Angry Gamers Charity"
We may not see eye to eye with them on that, but that is their right. The only way this destroys the heart of the Retake ME movement is if we let it by needlessly raging about things that don't need raging about.
Every one of these posts out to get PA, or to suggest that EA or Bioware has a sinister hand in all of this completely invalidates 50 posts saying otherwise.
YOU WANT THEM TO STOP PAINTING YOU AS ENTITLED WHINERS? YOU'RE GOING TO DAMN WELL HAVE TO
MAN UP AND DEAL WITH IT.
I see people trying to attack every action that isn't 100% supportive of changing the endings, and defend every action that is way across the line as part of defending changing the endings.
We've got to come together on this and not live this entire movement off of bitter feelings.
So we've closed our charity drive. We've raised 80k for kids. This is good, and was always the stated goal.
PA opted to end it early before it snowballed and got out of control and turned into a nightmare for them. This is also good because it promotes the long term health of the charity.
Do we find these ideal outcomes? No, but frankly we're better than this. And if we aren't. We can be better than this.
You want to hold the line? Do it.
Hold the line in spite of criticism.
Hold the line in spite of PR.
Hold the line in spite of the ending of the Child's Play drive.
HOLD THE LINE ONE MORE SECOND, ONE MORE MINUTE, ONE MORE HOUR, ONE MORE WEEk, ONE MORE MONTH FOR EVERY GAMER AND GAMING OUTLET THAT TOLD US WE WOULD BREAK!

Depends on the movement and the charity. Charities are businesses and political organizations. Not to mention that people who are involved with charities are also often involved in movements.Madecologist wrote...

Sleepy agreement from me!Yalision wrote...
Penny Arcade believes that we did a good thing, out of their own mouths. Anyway, it is perfectly acceptable reasoning behind the end of the Retake charity. I'm glad we did so much good in such a short span of time.
...And now I should really get to bed.

It turns a neat charity drive that raised a lot of money for kids into something bitter.
I am not questioning about the legit-ness of this. But the moment we are labeled by any media as "indian givers", people on this board will never forget PA/CP/EA for it. Stick to your orignal "shield" stance on not wanting to associate yourself with controversial causes.
Quietness is playing with fire here starting and bumping this thread. The other one will do way less damage to PA in my opinion.

Most of us donated for the kids, I made damned sure to e-mail them clarifying that. To be fair, Penny Arcade is pro-ending, so they might be making it up. But we can't rally disprove that.
PA also created CP, so why would they do that?

You mean starting and blatantly bumping up a thread calling Child's Play Donation participants "indian givers" is calm and rational? Riiight.

Smile really big for all the good that was done for the kids.
Be grateful to Penny Arcade for having the charity not because of anything ME related but because it's an awesome charity.
Not try to dissect who did what anymore. What is done is done and picking it apart will only do harm. Nothing good can come of it.
Only reference the charity in positive terms like "$80,000 in 9 days for charity! WOO!"
And get back to other things like discussing the wonders of SPACE MAGIC!! (or whatever)

Your opinion, BW didn't ruin anything.
Asking for your money back from a charity is deplorable, and they have every right to call those people indian givers.

Well if the Charity shares common interest to a common cause. It makes sense, since they directly support each other.Maria Caliban wrote...

Even the article you linked plainly states the reasons has nothing to do with the movement's motives, but about being connected to any movement who's agenda is not the charity itself.
However I did use the word external agenda for this reason. It is like how TVA can not pass any separatist or federalist agenda when doing a Enfant Soliel drive, inviting any artist that wishes to help with the fundraiser despite nationalistic opinion or agendas. No nationalistic politics will be discussed or brought up during the charity special.
At this point all Canadians in this forum now knows which Province I live in.

There was a whole statement on the page they used to donate. If people didnt understand it, CP shouldn't have to suffer.

The page straight out says who the money was being given too. If they fail basic reading comprehension I don't know that I agree.
All I'd want to know is how much money was asked to be returned so I could see if if we could offset that.
