I'm honestly speechless over all of this. The minority is starting to just get way out of hand and crossing the line more and more rather than holding it.

I checked the forums earlier when the conspiracy theories were beginning to form, but really, people in the movement ended up being the downfall. Did people seriously just not read and understand the OP of the charity thread? How could people be so foolish as to think we were trying to raise money for BioWare? People donated out of confusion, possibly out of emotion, without understanding what they were donating towards...

...And then asked for the money back from the charity? That's just....awful. Truly awful, imo. Yes, we (overall) helped the kids by donating what I assume is still a large amount, but honestly...people are just starting to get out of control with this, and that number seems to be growing (to me, this would have to involve more than just a small handful of people).

This is pretty much the final straw for me. The majority of the movement, while relatively good and civil overall, is starting to become overshadowed by the sheer craziness of the minority. It started, for me, with the ongoing threats and demands against BioWare, as well as bashing one another over theories and this and that, but this is just getting ridiculous. The movement, even if it is just the minority, ended up sabotaging its own charity.

Just as I didn't want to be lumped into the same group as people protesting the game due to homosexual content, I do not want to be lumped into the same group with people who are trying to get charge backs from a charity that is trying to help sick children.

I'm done with this, though. BioWare / Dr. Muzyka said April, so I'll check back then. In the mean time, for the people that ended up ruining this for the rest of us, learn to read, think, and actually give a damn about people outside of yourself. If you ever donate to anything in the future (I doubt you will unless it serves your own interests, clearly), actually read the charity's and the cause's mission statements so you understand their goal.

Also, if the movement backs another charity, then make the mission statement even more idiot-proof than before.

You seem smart, why believe someone is in the Retake movement when all they are intent on doing is making it look bad.  Does that seem logical?  Or more likely somone trying to sabotage it and get you to do just that, and leave?

Wow, so members of your own movement got the charity closed? genius.

This is how it starts. Then it slowly gets out of hand and next you are reading this in an IGN article.

Actually no you did harm you messed up a charity. That is nothing to be proud of. I hope the founder/founders of the retake understand the impact of what just occurred because they had no leadership skills.

Well done your ingnorance actually harmed something that was doing a postive thing.

Probably wasting my words in this post given the movement seems to have challenges around critical thinking. It's founder(s) sure prove they have no reflective skills.

Try apologising to the people running to the charity rather than slagging them. You harmed them. by trying to use the charity to white wash your antics.

Waste of sperm comes to mind as a descriptor for me when I think about the movement now.

Shousl be hanging your heads in shame and wearing it instead of trying to weasel out.

I agree.

Also, those asking for a refund is proving the point I've been trying to prove all along. It was never for the children. It was to bully bioware to get a new ending.

If you go by peoples posts its probably 70% wanted to give to a good cause....and than the.....other 30%

I agree. Whoever was leading this did a terrible job controlling this situation. I can't believe people are asking for their money, wow to a charity for children of all things. soo bad. It makes everyone Retake stood for look awful and destroys the image you tried to protray that it wasn't for the ending but to bring negativity towards a good cause. Now even if it was a few or several asking for refunds, the damage is done. everyone will see Retake as hiding behind children.. I feel so bad for some of you, I really do. The rest who did this, I don't.

Okay, there are probably some that DID donate for the sake of charity, but I'm sure the majority did not, and those people are the ones that I can't stand.

The whole reason for the charity drive was a joke. I'm sorry. You don't use sick children to try and get your way. And yes, this is how A LOT of people saw this.

No....I don't agree....most the people seem like that had good intentions.  and this comes from someone who likes the ending and has gotten.....well very creepy messages on here for saying so.

Audit from who? The donation button went strait to CP's account. It never touched a 3rd party's hands. ChipIn just does the metrics so you can see how much was donated in the name of a group.

How is this at all good how did it help kids? If childs play was messed up do to this whole thing than it did not help kids. So how much of that 80 thousand was lost to indian givers? I seen the drive and I could tell that it was to give to childs play it clearly said it.

I have to think that some childish pro enders did this I have to. I literally cannot accept I am the same species as morons like that.

If there were people legitimately believing the cash was going to buy a new ending then those individuals need to start paying far closer attention to their finances, and what they pay for. You'd have to be remarkably unaware, and at the same time still willing to enter your payment details, a dangerous combination.

That said, I'd stated previously I thought the charity idea was a bad one, I'm sad to see I was right,

I'm trying to decide if some of  you are intentionally ignoring my point or are just amazingly ignorant.

I'm actively trying to defuse those people who think that closing the drive was an affront to us and trying to get us all to agree that anyone who lacked reading comprehension, or had the audacity to ask for their money back were idiots.

Were there idiots? Yes.  Yes there were.  There are always idiots.  What I can't understand is that there seems to be an apparent amount of glee that some people were idiots and asked for money back.

Shouldn't the proper response be "Well it's a damn shame that some of them turned out like that."

No, it's smug self satisfaction from those who never wanted the idea to succeed in the first place.  Well bravo folks, you've got some jackass who wanted the ending changed and then was a jackass about it.  And now you'll continue with the world where none of these people ever cared about donating and all of these people were always whiney self entitled brats.  It doesn't matter to you if its true for the majority of the people, it just had to be proven true about a couple so you could write the whole group of people off.

Congratulations to your cynical viewpoint holding sway.

Bravo.

I am at a loss for words......What kind of neomaxizoomdweebie would actually think that money being donated to a CHARITY would actually go to a company that is already being paid for their work?? You don't even need to read the mission statement from Child's Play....all you have to do is look up the word 'CHARITY' in the dictionary!

Ok, so I am not at a loss for words after all. I just don't get how anyone can learn how to use a credit card and yet not be smart enough to understand what charity means.
