For the longest time I couldn't understand what was with all the Liara fans. But after another play through and giving her the attention instead of Ash I see why. Every moment I had with Liara even just as a friend was way better than most all the moments I had with Ash. Ash just seemed like she doubted you the whole game until the very end when you do the dirty then all is well. Which at that point in the game such a sudden shift in feelings personally felt a little awkward. I mean seriously the whole game is, "You sure your're not with Cerberus? How can I be sure?" Then switching to in the last cutscene to "I don't want you to go. I love you!" Then there was all the other LI from what I have seen on Youtube, there is almost nothing at all for them save an exceptionally brief romantic moment which doesn't even play out, but fades to black. (I haven't seen Tali's, so I can't really speak to her) So what gives? Was there any mention as to why most the other LI hardly got any real substantial face time at all, while Liara got repeated amazing and touching cut scenes?

Liara will always be the devs' favorite, though, and that's pretty much undeniable.

But it IS painfully obvious that the devs favor Liara.

I want better romances for the ME2 crew. Miranda, Jack, Thane and Jacob deserves at least the same attention as the VS regarding the romance (they were all shafted).

sadly there are those who are complaining about the Liara romance... like having the best wasn't enough.

My only complaints about the Liara romance would be that it did seem almost like Shepard and Liara hadn't talked since ME 1 making it take too long for them to get back into it and just where The Ending left things. Otherwise it felt well done.
I haven't played the other LIs through, but I'm sorry if others feel they were short changed.

Though I liked Liara's character evolution across the trilogy, they certainly do insist on her.

Given how Garrus and Tali seemed to require desperate fan intervention in order to even return in 2 and 3, it doesn't surprise me.

ya i kinda felt like they didn't want me to romance Ash at all the way they kept having her putting me off so much, and even knocked her out of the game for a good portion. so sad.

Or is Liara the only LI that really got a decent amount of attention from the devs? From what I have read it seems Ash (my LI) came in second. But even then. Having read in the forums and watched videos on you tube, Liara's relationship either if it stayed simply as friendship or as a LI just seemed WAY more polished than any of the other characters...

It's not just "you".
I don't mind all the extra content for Liara. She feels great as good friend and I can see why ppl love to romance her as well. Her romance / friendship arc basically represents what BW could have done for all the other romances as well, ME2!LIs, VS and the new LIs in ME3. Basically, when I say "upgrade VS romances", I want them to get same attention like Liara romance. And of course I support any romance!DLC that upgrades any other romances as well.
I can speak only for myself as an Ashleymancer - the romance itself is done in a very beautiful way. But it definitely feels incomplete since lack of non-romantic interaction with Ash. It's not always about romantic and sex, know that? 80% of the time I spend with my fiancee isn't romantic - but the rest is and defines our relationship. So basically, if my 80/20 system works, we only get 20% of Ashley instead of 100%.
Same for Kaidan and most other relationships in the game too.
Yes, I'm well aware ME3 isn't about the romances. They don't even have any influence on the main plot (except Liara's romance, if you consider several standard scenes as romance scenes as well). But they greatly help to get invested with certain characters. I wouldn't care half as much of Ashley if she weren't available (then again, I love Mordin!), but she is. And although she got more lines in ME3 than in ME1 and ME2 together, her romance feels incomplete.
So you're not alone here.
As I said, I don't mind Liara's story. I simpy think it displays how the other characters should have been treated as well. Of the original squad (Kaidan, Ashley, Liara, Garrus, Tali and Wrex), Wrex and Tali got the shortest end of the stick. Liara and Garrus have most screen time. Kaidan and Ashley get shafted for half of the game, but at least you can see them frequently in the hospital.Billabong2011 wrote...
Garrus's is forever my favorite.

Out of the original three LIs, Ashley got the worst treatment. Kaidan got some more scenes and interacts with the rest of the crew, at least sometimes, but even he feels a bit odd and OOC. Ashley feels like two separate persons: in romance scenes she feels like Ashley, outside those scenes, mostly on board of the Normandy, she feels like an entirely different person.
Again: I don't mind Liara's content, I mind the lack of content for the VS (and feel bad for ME2!LIs)

So yeah she got so much attention it made me sick, and it honestly made me hate Liara, just because of how lopsided the other LI were.
You go from what Liara had to Jack and it's like night and day,
Next to all the fans upset that they had to constantly reinforce the romance in conversations with liara I say this
Ya know what I'd give to be able to have to reinforce my interest in Samara? I'd be willing to shoot EDI or Garrus, or Javik, or Liara, or any other person stuck with me on the Normandy in ME3 to be able to have Samara back.
I'd love to have to continually reinforce the Romance in Conversations. Instead all I get for attempting to Romance Samara is a single scene where She comes over and grabs my Shep's hand and holds his for a brief moment and tells him "Spend as much time with those you love as possible while you still can" Then she turns and walks away!
DAMN YOU BW Stop teasing us you SOBs!

That being said, I don't necessarily begrudge those that romanced Liara; even though I didn't pursue her romantically there were still some very touching moments with her (the Vulcan Mind Meld thing near the end was absolutely beautiful, for instance). So I'm actually quite glad she got a good romance arc, I just think it's a bummer that they didn't give the same level of attention to Ash, and I don't even want to think about the folks that romanced Jack, Miranda, or Jacob; so much as blink and you'll miss their appearance.

We definitely want and need a DLC improving any romances to Liara level. That not only means VS romances (although it's quite easy to do it for them), but also for ME2 romances. INCLUDING (!) Thane and Jacob. And of course, for the ladies, make Vega available. Seriously, straight fem!Shep doesn't receive much love. If fem!Shep doesn't like Kaidan, he might die on Virmire. Jacob cheats on her and Thane dies too. The only one left is Garrus.
On the other hand, straight male!Shep can kill Ashley and still gets Liara, Miranda, Jack and Diana - and all romances can be headcanoned too.

Speaking as somebody who opts for Ashley as their prime LI, I can definitely see what you're talking about. Heck, not only was Ash's romance arc seriously lacking but so was any form of interaction with her whatsoever: If I recall correctly, the only time you get to talk to her on the Normandy (like really talk, none of this pre-canned audio without player input garbage), is after she gets herself drunk: and even that hardly counts because she can only mumble. I know a lot of people didn't like her but geez, they didn't have to shove her on the sidelines for the first half of the game and then completely reduce her character to a shadow of what it was in ME1.

So I didn't miss any convos with Ash than? I was thinking I missed something because I only gotta talk with her when she was sh!tfaced and I was like ummm WTF?
So I thought that I just missed something more on Normandy with her.
T
his makes it worse now, all we get is her drunk convo, good god that's stupid. Hell Tali's autodialogue Drunk Convo was WAY Better than Ash's non Autodialogue convo.

Ashley's romance basically consists of this:
- Welcome back Shepard (Earth)
- Mars Convo (and actually, it's the only REAL non-romance / semi-romance convo you have with Ash in the entire game!)
- Hospital monologue to Ash
- Hospital dialogue I & handing over Tennyson's
- Hospital dialogue II
- Udina event
- Decision to get Ash back / let her go
- Memorial scene
- Drunk scene
- Date
- Sex
- Farewell
So to speak. Just keep in mind between "Date" and "Sex" you can easily spend 20h of game without experiencing another scene with Ashley - just random talk which is usually cut after 3 lines. Garrus and Vega have far more talk in the same time.
So basically, most of Ashley's (and Kaidan's) romance moments happen on the Citadel - before you get her back on the Normandy.
