Seriously, why got fem!Shep the shortest end of the stick? Thane dying (okay, at least we knew this was going to happen) and Jacob moving on?

I'll be honest and say that I was actually quite glad BioWare didn't give in and come up with some miracle cure for Thane at the last minute. It would have been so easy to give some of the fans their sappy, happy ending (until we got to the actual ending, anyway) with that guy, but they stuck to their guns and made him have to keep dealing with Kepler's Syndrome. Heck, they even managed to let the guy go out like a champ, letting him keep the mortality theme going while still giving him a death worthy of the galaxy's greatest assassin. I didn't even like Thane, but I felt like his exit from the series was fitting and actually quite awesome.

Still a shame the femsheps didn't get more time with him, but they knew this was coming: there's no happy ending in pursuing the dude with the terminal disease, I don't think.

Oh, I don't really support a cure for Thane since it would feel like "cheating drama". But actually, the devs should have given the Thane-lovers some really meaningful scenes. Right now, they don't get anything extra - I also had my meaningful scene with Thane, and my male!Shep had nothing with him except friendship.

Jacob, moving on? C'mon. He wasn't the most famous LI, but at least he was an alternative for Kaidan if the player doesn't have a thing for Garrus or Thane. Kaidan can die, as we all know and Jacob moves on so in worst case, fem!Shep has no human male LI in ME3. Vega isn't available (which is a shame, given the fact a lot of players wanted him to be a LI). Cortez is gay. Fem!Shep has far more options if she changes the side of the river: Traynor is guaranteed to be on board, same for Liara. And Allers swings both ways as well.

Whatever.

Did I mention I'd love to see more content (romance & non-romance) for the VS? Seriously, BW, it's a shame nearly any LI gets shafted in one or another way - except Garrus and Liara. I don't mind their romances, but I definitely mind the lack of content for the rest of the LIs. Especially Ashley and Miranda.

While i usually stick with Liara as li "starts runnign to escape the lynchmob" i got the feeling in ME3 that with Bioware sticking so clearly and obviously with Liara as canon li, it was yet another lessening of choice in the game.

Kinda. You only get a "full reward" if you choose Liara as LI. Every other LI gets far less content or gets shafted entirely. To be fair, it doesn't really matter who your Shepard romanced, 'cause s/he'll die in the end or get separated from the LI by lightyears (as long as the endings are NO hallucination). Even Liara gets a sad end here, and I'm pretty sure she's as much hurt as Ashley or Kaidan in case Shepard dies again.

However, in that field I concur with Casey: the journey is its own reward. And in that case, Liara's romance is -really- amazing to watch while several others are somewhere between "really good" and "shafted". The VS romance gets an 7/10 ... it's good but feels incomplete, while Liara's romance gets a 10/10 - everything is PERFECTLY crafted.

Liara's is the only one I've played through to the end, but what I've seen of Garrus' so far is excellent (and much better than in ME2).

I'm also a bit annoyed that they didn't even mention what Tali and Garrus were up to early on. Granted you get Garrus nearly right away, but for Tali you have only vague hints as to what happened with her.

Only done the romance track in ME2 for Tali once, and haven't played 3 with that character yet. But I imagine I'd be pretty annoyed not knowing what's going on but there's no indication of that, that Shep has somehow totally forgotten about them or something. And then you end up getting her 3/4ths of the way through...

Granted the Virmire survivor also gets shafted in terms of play time, but they are at least available to talk to, and you know where they are and stuff.

*Flips tables*

I'm OK with Liara. I don't think she's awful, but yes I think she's gotten plenty of special treatment from ME1 to her ME2 DLC to ME3. I found her scenes with my FemShep very sweet although they're just friends, but why not something with Tali? She's been there the whole time too! And I wanted another Ash scene or so...My FemShep bonded with her over talking about "goldbricking". I wanted more of that.

This seemed borderline romantic to me. The "preserving your memory" scene was already sweet as is. This just pushed me over the edge a bit and thought, "Why not some romantic galaxy scene with her LI?!"

Liara and the VS have the most developed romances from what I've seen. Tali and Garrus are next in the tier list with great romances, but have mediocre pre-battle love scenes. It seems to be the consensus that all other romances were shafted.

I dunno... my LI was Miranda, and her scene left me thinking as to what was really happenning when the screen faded to black. Hoo hoo hoo...

In my opinion, a majority of these love scenes faded to black far too quickly (compared to Liara and the VS). I'm not saying the other scenes didn't leave anything for our imaginations to recreate.

I just wanted consistency among all romances. Figured if Liara can have a 2 minute intimate conversation and a 30 second scene of foreplay before the Cerberus mission, other LIs should receive similar treatment.

It's not just that.

It's all the fluff between Liara's scenes. She has PLENTY of fluff, lots of dialogues, lots of non-romantic or semi-romantic moments as well. I don't mind any of them - just mind the lack of similar stuff for other romances.

Agreed, to most of the consensus. LI's from 2 on got shortchanged on their payoff, especially Jacob and Thane. Liara is great as a character, and I enjoy having her around, but to be so interwoven in the whole plot, even when she's not your LI, can be a little annoying.

I chose Tali in my run, and it took awhile to even get to where the Quarians got involved, but from there, it was done really well. Fairly short, but the quality of what we got was phenomenal.

After looking at the other LI's, I felt somewhat underwhelmed with just how much the ME2 crowd got, even the new ME3 choices. Traynor literally has no real goodbye except on the Normandy before Earth.

But yes, I wish they would expand on the other options out there, though it's incredibly hard to expand on a dead man and a soon-to-be father...awkward.

Yeah I was disappointed. My LI was Jack and I had more lovey-dovey dialogs with Liara than with Jack (5 lines). I was annoyed so much that I wanted to put bullet in Liara's head.

Would it be absurd if I said I don't have a Facebook, or Twitter?

Liara is pretty much by your side throughout the entire game, great if she's your LI or bestest friend, ****ty if she's not either. I liked Liara in ME1, and even in 2 but she's just kind of grating to me now.

All characters should be given equal treatment, especially LI's. All ME2 exclusive LI's were reduced to cameo roles, with barely there dialogue or interaction. My favorite LI, Thane, barely counts as a relationship. Jacob isn't even an option. Then there's Kaiden and Garrus, I suppose people are satisfied with those romances.

Beyond all that I miss having actual conversations with my crew-what happened to the conversation wheel? I believe I didn't ask for auto responses. I found it strange I was never able to have a "real" conversation with Ashley after she came aboard the Normandy, just one liners. Still, the VS does get better treatment than the ME2 squads' cameo roles.

It's obvious BW loves Liara, their little golden child. I'm sure Tali and Garrus would have small cameo roles if fans weren't so enthusiastic about them. Maybe if we're just as vocal about our ME2 LI's we can get the same attention. Can't hurt to try.

The facebook link is in my sig too, as well as the united take back the love thread for all the ME2 love interests!!
And I only got a twitter account for ME3 swag, contests etc.  Who knew I'd end up using it to tweet back my disappointment in Thane's character handling!!

Yeah, I felt like BW wanted to say "next time start Romance with someone more popular". :(

I thought the gay romance with Kaidan was really well done. Then again there aren't many fans of him in comparison to the other love interests.

Yeah? Then why he have the longest topic on this forum? :P Yeah, he is not a popular guy at all, right... ;)
