She would have been a far better character to have on the normandy than Allers IMO.

Emily Wong's dead and this is how I find out about it. According to the wiki she died in a badass way so at least I'll have that to console me. They should have put in a rolling news feed itself in the game to put out this sort of information.
I haven't been this down since finding out that urbane debonair poetry spouting Krogan from Nos Astra in ME2 had died. He left a widow and had a daughter. He was awesome, the Krogan George Plimpton.
Waite Charrr from ME2 is dead???? Where in the game did you find this out????? DUD I loved charrr

This is something that needed to go into multiple places, or be alluded to in multiple places. This should be a news feed in game at the menu screen on that little computer that shows you galactic readiness. This should have been posted on the Mass Effect website, on their Facebook, and put as an official announcement on this forum.
I have no problem with them using social media as a means to tell some stories if they do it in an interesting way. I felt this was done in such a manner. It just needs to be better advertised. A lot of people missed this, and a lot more still have not seen it and likely won't. That is a pretty big mistake and a missed oppurtunity.

On the Rachni mission, you find the corpse of a Krogan with a message for someone on the Citadel named "Ereba." When you deliver the message, you get to hear it.
I bawled.

And man I would have so lived to romance Emily Wong over Aller's. There should have been a dialogue option for her to dress a little more professional

Felt a ping in my gut too, can't believe she didn't recognize me when I gave the message. I'm the whole reason they stayed together

You find his body during the missing scouts mission in the caves with the rachni. Then you have a sidequest to deliver his final message to Ereba(I think that's her name). It was actually really heart breaking. And one of my favorite things in the game.

Getting sick of all this out of the game content. I couldn't care less about twitter, facebook, comics and
other bull####!But tens of thousands of customers, and millions of potential customers, do. Emily Wong is the perfect sort of character to this publicity stunt. She's a relatively minor character, so her loss will not derail the story. She's a news reporter, so the text blitzes falls in line with her character. And while a minor character, she still has enough of a backgruond that someone who stumbled across the ANN twitter feed could google "Emily Wong Mass
Effect" and learn more about this universe.
I bet a lot of you would be just fine with the twitter and facebook stuff - which you DO NOT NEED AN ACCOUNT TO READ - if Bioware just included those updates on the "what's new" sub-tab on the social.bioware.com homepage.

My problem isn't with the writing itself. It is how poorly they advertised it. This was written on March 5th. I just found out today by sheer luck of entering a random thread on an extremely fast moving forum.

you have the only reason this thread exists, aside from an increasing amount of libel against Bioware.

God, twitter needs to die already. Or remain a circlejerk site for journalists, the cultural "elite" and hipsters.
Either way is fine with me. I feel like an old fart for saying this but social media and all the desperate attempts to integrate it into everything nowadays drives me mad. I want to have all the information about the game in the actual game, not have to go to a self-important social networking site or download an app. The time I could have wasted on keeping tabs on social network stuff is time I spend elsewhere, well.. being social.
i feel the same way.

One of my Edmonton friends had someone from the bw team come into the coffee shop he works at the morning of launch day. He told them about my complaining about Emily Wong's death. The response they had in defense of her twitter snuff was that ME3 was pretty much Hamlet the videogame.

I know everyone who loves social media wants to tell us all that. And yet here's a whole bunch of loyal, passionate customers, who didn't know a thing about it. And now that we do, don't like it.
When did this twitter nonsense occur? How was I notified about it? When I preordered, did it tell me I needed to follow the Twitter feed to get complete info? Why is it suddenly OK for ingame info to NOT BE IN THE GAME, because you love Twitter? What stopped them from doing a Twitter stunt AS WELL AS keeping ingame info in the game?
If you can answer all these questions, let me know. Until then, it's a crap move.

Old thread, but I only found out about Emily Wong's death today. Bioware should summarise these kind of minor plots somewhere prominent, not on Twitter.

Also, I don't have any disdain towards Allers/Chobat (she's a fan). Still, Wong would have made a better choice for the reporter (keeping the 4th wall intact).
