Also this is the fanart that that 3d render was made from. I do think a couple things with the render could have been interpreted differently but no matter how you look at it its really nice work.
Basically I wouldnt have been upset by this if they wanted something more human.
Also, the quarians had to have a SOMEWHAT human look as you can clearly see some facial outline under that helmet.
anyways, this has been done to death, I know that but eesh.

Just doesn't make sense how they copped out on her face like that. I recall them saying at some point that they "put a lot of time and effort and decided yep that's her", which is a blatant lie seeing what we got in game. The pictures in here were created by fans in their free time, and they're infinitely better than what we got.

Yeah - thats why this was a reasonable compromise to me. In me3 Tali's face IS just a human face with a couple markings here and there.

I always pictured her face more androgynously humanoid. No sumptuous human female lips and eyelashes, for example. Not ugly, but not so obviously waifu fan servicey. Thankfully my Shep is Fem so I can reject BW's ridiculous Covergirl version of Tali in my canon, having never seen it in-game.

Also, I think she should have been very alien because the point was that you care about her for her personality and have your shep want to romance her for that reason. I would have loved a reveal that wasnt ugly, but was very very different and alien. Then people would have just had to deal with the fact that they're xenophobic if they happen to be.
Mass Effect as a series does a really good job illustrating the difference in how important visuals are to males and females on average.

I only have maleSheps but all of them have romanced Liara and/or Miranda. Tali is not romance material for me. She's way to much like my little sister.

Oh come on, with the amount of Space Magic involved so far we could have Quarians be EXACTLY human and even be able to reproduce and it still wouldn't be out of palce.
Still, intelligent design by either a previous cycle or the Reapers themselves can be used to avoid questions on biology.

Bullcrap. I already saw that Tali's face was a cheap and poorly-done Photoshop from the very first moment I saw that in-game picture of Tali's face. People who were part of the 'Spoiler'ed Group' can back me up on this.
From the very start I already said: "LOL that looks like a really bad photoshop. I wonder who's photo they used for this ugly photoshop."
And then, a couple of hours later, someone found the original stock photo, confirming what I already knew: a horribly done photoshop. Even my little nephew can do a better photoshop than that.

To behonest I still prefer Biowares OWN white faced semi androgynous alien version that can be seen in the artbooks but seems like they were GOING for a covergirl look anyways. The in game portrait is definately not Tali's personality either
