I really think they dropped the ball with multiplayer. There should have been actual missions to discover new information and territories as opposed to a survival mode model. Hate the model for ingame purchases as well, though I am sure it was very effective as a cash cow. I'd prefer to just buy the weapon and characters I wanted to use.

I disagree, I think the team did an amazing job given that MP traditionally has not been part of their designs.

I think you guys did a pretty good job on MP. Though Spideywebs suggestion of having "actual missions to discover new information and territories" is a great idea and would certainly keep me playing it longer. The survial model has been fun but would greatly benefit from being given some depth.

Someone in another thread suggested a trading system, which is another fantastic idea. I know there are some shotgun useres out there who would want my Crusader in exchange for a Scorpion upgrade or a Widow sniper rifle. Even some SMG users who would want my SMG mods. Same with my Revenant which i never use because it's too heavy for any of my characters.

Just a couple suggestions for the teams consideration.

I'd love to try new stuff but getting respec cards in nearly every spectre pack kinda prevents that from happening. I'd sacrifice bags of cute kittens* if it meant getting an m-99 would be easier than what it is now.

There will be updates to MP - probably sooner than you think. I just can't get detailed about that yet.

Tease. Looking forward to it though. :)

Unfortunately you are probably in the minority, espescially since the stats relesaed say only 1% of all finished matches are on gold. For the majority of people, the MP still presents a challenge, so I am pretty sure the devs wont fix some of the flaws you speak of.

Sadly (for me personally) I guess this is pretty much true. Many people in the BSN are the kind of people that have mastered gold already pretty fast, me included. However, seeing the statistics BW has released I guess these kind of people are the minority. Seeing how often I end up playing with people I already played with before strengthens that assumption (although that might really be just a coincidence).
However, there is not the biggest need for ultra-endgame MP Content right now as, lets say, 90+% of the people usually stick to bronze and silver.

However, very unrelated to the matter of difficulties, additional game modes would benefit all kinds of players. Something else than the "10 waves" would be great, albeit that's more than just a small addition. I don't know how much of the multiplayer department BW kept after release (or how much of the general ressources will still be focusing on the Multiplayer now), but additional game modes are in fact quite a bunch of work.

Jarrett, they may have done a good job considering their inexperience with multiplayer, but it still isn't a great muliplayer experience. I love Mass Effect. Even though I am a PS3 user and I get shafted regularly with the promo content in Mass Effect 3, I love the game. I love that we can play with the most popular races, but I wish there was a bit more depth along with actual missions we can play together (Or even play the game together, like with Killzone 2/3).

That said, if they nerf black widows/widows I am done as well. I loved the Falcon and hated how they destroyed it. Vanguards cause more havock than the Falcon ever did, not to mention the Falcon was a rare weapon and was supposed to be a great gun to use. Stop nerfing guns in a co-op mp game. If you nerf anything, nerf those vanguards.

I'm getting really burned out trying to unlock characters. Opened about 50 spectre packs and nearly every one was a shotgun I'll never use or a respec card. :(

People in the forums have said to gradually build up to the spectre pack. Build all your basic weapons with the recruit pack and work your way up. Eventually, when you get to the spectre pack, since all the common and uncommon items have been maxed out, it will be more likely you will get something rare in the spectre pack

Been doing that lately, opening the premium vet packs, but that is a huge time sink to have to upgrade every weapon just to get the character I want to play. I think it is just my luck though, read plenty of complaints about people unlocking too many characters.

Man idk about nerfing vangaurds but they need a change.  They need to be more survivable in silver/gold and Much less in the way.   I often feel like Krogan anything and Vagaurds are generally a detriment to your team.

Well, I know people enjoy playing as vanguards, and I don't really want them to nerf anything. But several times during a match I am running to an enemy just to have a vanguard charge it and destroy it. They move around like the flash spamming the charge, and its a challenge to even get a few kills. Or, if they aren't so skilled, they are the first to fall and the team gets killed trying to revive the fallen vanguard.

With the Falcon's range and explosive power, I could at least compete with that, and I found the gun fun to use. Now I just have my Widow with my Sally Infiltrator. The poor Turian Sentinal has to use the Revenant again...Wish they didn't nerf the tech armor.

They are plenty survivable in Silver/Gold if spec'd and played correctly. (Talking Human here, just to clarify) They can be used to tank big threats to the group, and also to detonate biotic abilities. They are a huge benefit to the team if played correctly, and if they are in your way they are either bad or you should be shooting something else to cover them.

In response to what Jarrett said I think it definitely has a lot to do with your skill level. Once you start consistently beating gold without much trouble the appeal begins to decay rapidly indeed.

I do think a system to pay directly for upgrades or a particular weapon would help, even if the prices were ridiculous as being able to obtain a weapon you want will have a direct impact on one's interest in the game. Aside from that add in a Platinum difficulty and I think a lot of the people that are getting bored would be back in the game.

A system I would like to see would be "one white/gold/black card of your choice" rewarded at various N7 levels. Perhaps a white card every ten levels up to level 50, a gold card every ten levels from 50 to 100, and a black card every thirty ranks past level 100. That would guarantee one black card per character promotion, providing an inventive to promote and an alternative means of getting the weapon you want.

I'm trying different builds now , use guns not so popular, even the considered bad ones, learn to play with then and more important having fun

Yesterday I tried Infiltrator + Claymore V and Tempest SMG (weight nothing with the upgrade), got hte lower score of the team , but it was very good indeed , with the graal not so much ...

I think the longevity will depend on a lot of things:

- how many hours a day you are playing
- how many friends you play with (when I play with other BW peeps I have a freaking blast)
- how fast you have gotten to gold and/or a point where you can beat it reliably
- how much you enjoy trying new kits/weapons/powers etc. I find myself trying a lot of different stuff.

You guys did an awesome great job of multiplayer & Mass Effect belongs among the greatest of RPGs like Skyrim/Wasteland/Fallout that's fun & will last for many years IF you implement long-term goals people can work for WITHOUT RANDOM UNLOCKs.

People play for YEARS to reach maximum level 80 or 120 in WoW, Everquest, Lord of Rings, etc -- give people a OPTIONAL GOAL to shoot for like MILLIONs of credits or xp to buy their favorite weapon or class  IN ADDITION to the OPTION of the random unlocks.

SOME PEOPLE NEVER PLAY THE LOTTERY because they hate the idea of wasting money on random things that might not reward them BUT WILL WORK FOR YEARS on doing something knowing that they'll achieve it & be rewarded finally (that's why we goto jobs & go to college for years, right?

Because we know that eventually we'll be rewarded with that degree or huge salary/retirement bonus/pension after even if it takes years of effort

Most players don't mind needing millions of experience points to reach level 80 or max level nor mind having to get 1 million credits to unlock a Black Widow or Paladlin card in an item shop

--people will grind & raid for that like any MMO but people hate the idea that they could spend that much & never get it due to randomness

..even in raids in end-game content in MMOs, there's a guaranteed drop but most people won't grind or go raiding if the boss mobs randomly dropped no loot or useless loot.

Great fun to be had if you play with a group of friends, only thing I kinda wish we had were different game modes? Not just surviving the waves, but like taking out a particular hard big boss guy, like, a really big super Brute or something.

The only reason my interest is beginning to diminish is because once I start using something and really, really enjoy it (QI and Falcon come to mind), Bioware nerfs it back to the friggin stone age and renders them completely useless.

Multiplayer actually has me sticking around way longer that singleplayer mode, which I originally bought the game for. In the long run it needs more content tough.

I don't stick to a specific weapon or class in games, so I enjoy experimenting with whatever I unlock in the packs. The excitement of not knowing what I'll get next keeps me interested in the game. I will probably get bored once have played all the classes and tried out most of the weapons, which might take a while if they release a lot of DLC. There are many players like me, just like there are many players who prefer the normal unlock system. That doesn't mean that either one is incorrect and bad. If you are bored of it, why not play another great co-op game like Left 4 Dead or Gears of War?

I don't understand how people keep saying "the game is so boring as it is, all I do is farm gold for credits" and yet somehow think that being able to buy/upgrade the exact weapon they want will improve things. What do you do think you'll do when you have that perfect weapon maxed out? Credits/farming and xp/(re-)leveling are the only goals for now.

Maybe try playing a different class than your salarian infiltrator/salarian engineer/asari adept (or any class chosen solely because it's the most powerful/unbalanced currently), or try tactics/loadouts that are chosen for fun instead of maximum efficiency. If you start every game saying "you warp, I'll throw", of course you're going to be bored. At least keep promoting/re-leveling your chars without just power leveling back to 20 in a few hours. Make up your own challenges if when gold gets too easy (different duo team combos, solo'ing with various classes/races, whatever).

I still have a blast playing MP, I think its great fun and I've played it everyday since release more or less. It's even better if you play with friends, my N7 ranking is close to 500 now, and still having fun playing the game, as Jarrett said, trying new builds, new kits and new stuff in general.
If there's updates comming sooner then we think, even better!
So have to disagree here, I still think multiplayer is a lot of fun, and I think the team did a great job with it.
