Am I the only one whose interest in MP is starting to decay rapidly?

You guys are missing one significant factor in extending the life of any multiplayer game: Battle music. Whether it's your favorite lyrical music, epic music, or video game soundtrack, battle music will make it more interesting. Works for me.

Here's an idea instead of over indulging your self (like all americans do). Just play 1 or 2 hours and actually go outside or do something more productive in life.

Just cause your a video gamer doesnt mean to simply over indulge it. It's like candy everyone wants to eat it but you know if you keep eating it, you will get bored of it. (and oh yeah health reasons too, for both)

If they nerf the widows and the pistols many more people will be leaving. no more nerfing. the guns are already like potato guns. it's ridiculous. the ARS need BUFFING.. everything else does NOT need nerfing.

Love a good match, but the reward (character xp cards instead of guns) vs connection issues and bugs (that BW will not adress let alone fix) ratio is becoming intolerable for my psyche and I don't plan to play outside of weekend events anymore.:pinched:

I've been seeing that too...but when I play with friends, I forget all about that. To be honest though, I hope they introduce new maps or new Co-op modes to keep my interest peaked, IMO.

I'd suggest to BW to look to games like Left 4 Dead for advice on other game modes.

I disagree, I think the team did an amazing job given that MP traditionally has not been part of their designs.

Might be late to the party on this one, but why didn't you look to setups like League of Legends and their character store? Add in a similar system for weapons, and bam. People will shell out in-game creds and IRL money to level up certain builds, get certain weapons, and Hell even get certain classes.

Only issue I could think with that is scaling it all to make sense in the way LoL's shop works, but at least then you can let everyone get what they want and dice-roll for packs of stuff too.

Never. It's just so much fun. And since I don't play it endlessly until my eyes hurt, it doesn't bore me at all. I change from Skyrim to ME to being on my laptop doing something.

JARRET LEE!. MY FAVORITE BIOWARE STAFF MEMBER.

The MP needs an endless horde mode so that large maps like Dagger or Gold don't end so quickly. The game needs larger maps, but if the challenge is not big enough, it becomes a little tedious to move from Point A to Point B in a large map. Does this make sense?.

I love the MP. I'll be saving up my credits to purchase whatever DLC comes for it. :D

Im with OP on this, the mp is great and fun but, i've played so many gold matches i can only stand playing 1-2 games before i feel like falling asleep.

I really have no point in playing mp or mass effect (as a whole) anymore, I've unlocked all chars, and most of the rare weapons. I've gotten all achievements.

So all in all, im done with mass effect until more dlc comes out.

I just play one or two games a day and alternate with other games and activities, so MP is still fun. Basically as long as I'm learning something, it's fun.

I think the longevity will depend on a lot of things:

- how many hours a day you are playing
- how many friends you play with (when I play with other BW peeps I have a freaking blast)
- how fast you have gotten to gold and/or a point where you can beat it reliably
- how much you enjoy trying new kits/weapons/powers etc. I find myself trying a lot of different stuff.

There will be updates to MP - probably sooner than you think. I just can't get detailed about that yet.

This is indeed all true but to be honest the basic "survival mode" or "horde mode" or whatever people are calling it is a rather weak and limited co-op model and is bound to die out faster than something more indepth like mission driven maps or the like. I hope later content the team adds to multiplayer isn't just some new weapons new badguys to kill and maps that isn't what the game mode really needs it's just prolonging the death of it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not attacking the team in any way I love that they gave us what they did but they could do something very interesting now and I'm afraid they might take the cheap direction and not really add anything interesting.

Essentially the game Left 4 Dead is a "survival mode" game but they dressed it up in an interesting way that made it seem much more. There is some story to each mission with small objectives spanning across a well sized map not just a crammed square area and those little missions get you to the main objective which is where L4D got repetitive as it was always the same (hold off badguys till rescue arrives)

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer could do something similar with DLC or whatever and expand the co-op to have missions that spread over a longer sized map moving from point to point completing smaller objectives (which could be randomised like the current mode perhaps even take the players through different routes each playthrough) that get you to the final main objective which you could complete and either wait for pickup or fight your way back or one or the other for differing missions. To be honest it really shouldn't be that difficult to expand to I know the unreal engine well just need to be careful about where enemies spawn and in what numbers.

Anyway I've banged on about it enough.

I agree the team did a good job indeed doing multiplayer which is something new to mass effect.

uh, if bioware has opened an map editor, and an opportunity to play on custom maps (similar to famous counter strike) it wouldn't be so boring.
Also, one more (offtop) thing i hate - lobby owners aren't actually lobby owners. They cannot exclude somebody from lobby for example, that's especcialy weird when you're silver/gold lobby owner, and the first who joined got 1 lvl. If there are two noobs in gold.. it's impossible to exclude them

Nah, the Multiplayer simply has very little content. The system whereby you get random items is probably designed to artificially extend the longevity of the game, as except for upgrading the guns and getting new ones there is very little else to experience. There are only 6 maps, 1 mode, and 3 factions. The enemy variety is by far the worst in the trilogy, I mean in ME1 and ME2 we had Krogan, Mechs, Drones, 3 types of mercs (and all those has different soldiers too), Geth, husks, lichen, varren. In ME3 there are only 3 of these left. And while they have different types of soldiers, the variety is still very small compared to previous games.I personally haven't gotten bored of MP yet, but I was forced to quit it anyway because the store kept withdrawing my credits with failed purchases and EA customer support refused to refund. These glitches, lack of dedicated servers and spacebar also don't help....All in all, MP is being held back greatly by design oversights, technical issues and lack of content. Is seems like it can get a lot better, but that's if those issues are fixed and if new free content is added. Obviously paid DLC content will not help, cuz it will just split community apart.

This isn't the only game I play, so I end up rotating between other games to keep things fresh for each one. Right now, I'm cycling through about 4 games a week.

The biggest thing that killed MP for me was the bug that hit at the beginning, where all my crap got relocked. After unlocking a decent amount of stuff, it's kinda hard to get motivation to play when all the hours I dumped before that bug hit was just a waste. Not to mention the BioWare points I ended up buying to give me the starting boost. I'm mainly coming back to the ME3 multiplayer just for the weekend events and the off chance that BioWare may have actually fixed my account.

I wouldn't be suprised if we see updates to MP before SP.  Thats where the money is afterall.  Good to know though.  1 gametype, 3 enemy types & 6 maps is pretty lackluster.  Need additional gamemodes like missions or something.

I only have time to play 1-2 hours per day (max.). So I'm not bored with it. Only recently maxed the starter weapons, so now I'm getting the really stuff from spectre packs. I only need a good pistol to go gold missions (now i use a phalanx III on my SE).

And this works incredibly well. If it wasn't for the random upgrades many people would have stopped playing it already. The few small maps plus the lacking variety of enemies start to get boring pretty fast. But because you always can hope for a better weapon it keeps you motivated (kinda strange really because everything that changes will be that the enemies die a little bit faster ;) ). The possibility to promote characters and get into the process of leveling up again helps as well.

All in all it's the random components that many people complain about that actually give the MP part at least some longevity. If you already had all your stuff and would have the same enemy combination all the time, what motivation would you have to play it again?

If they can build "item trading" system, that would be great.

Just... no. Have you and everyone else forgotten what we play games for? Enjoyment! Entertainment! It is the gameplay process that is supposed to keep you entertained, not amount of in-game items you collect!

It is the worst thing in the world to say about a game that "When you have all the good stuff, why would you want to play it?". Mass Effect 3 has enjoyable combat, good weapons handling, kills are satisfying, maps are well designed. It is enjoyable to play, but there is just very little of it. No, it's not the infinite guns and equipment progression that's needed! We need more stuff that makes the game great! More maps, enemies, actual NEW weapons together. The progression should be a nice accessory, rather than a backbone of a game.
Please, Bio, do not take some posts here as a plea to extend max level of character or weapons, or adding more weapons packs or something!
More content is needed, like TF2 did with new maps, gamemodes, guns, flair. I, for one, would love to see some other type of gamemode, like territory or resource control, coop dungeon-style levels, etc. And more maps and guns of course, if new gamemodes are too difficult to create.

I haven't gotten enough stuff to get bored yet. However, I split my time a lot. So I am not playing MP 5+ hours a day or just farming gold for credits. All in moderation I'de say.

It would be nice for some more complicated objectives, different enemies, new maps, maybe the ability to import your SP character and level it with a custom set of 3 skills you could choose. This could be done simply by asigning point values to powers and allowing the imported character only so many point in order to choose between the 3.

I read somewhere that they wanted bigger maps with enemies like Harvesters. That would be pretty cool. Or even event missions where the objective is to blow up buildings..or even a Reaper Destroyer. I would imagine, taking points where the players fight through enemies, avoiding the destroyers beams to obtain 1 time use strike weapons like the one used in SP.

Anyways...those are some crazy ideas that will most likely never be seen, but it is within the scope of what can be implamented I am sure. I can dream can't I?

Nerfing the game for longevity is like going for an uglier chick so you take longer to reach....'extraction'. -_-
