There are two other forums full of threads with people posting who "get it." You, on the hand, missed out - for whatever reason.

Having not played bg1 or 2 here's my thoughts on DA's story.
It is honestly kind of bland and at times contrived. Morrigan's story for example is very contrived. So is Sten's. No one is particularly interesting or surprising. I expected there to be something to loghains treachery, but he's either just crazy or it doesn't really explain.
There's a lack of connections. A game like this would have been ripe for interesting coincidences and correlations. Different characters realizing that they had a connection in the past they didn't know about. yet... nothing.
Everything is on the surface. The only mysteries are if the old chanters tales are true and the game doesn't touch it. The blight is plain, the archdemon is just some dragon. And while there are a few futile attempts to make some demons out to be a little less malevonent, it fails. Kill them all.
I don't even know what the darkspawn are. Are they goblins, orcs? Are they people transformed? Game doesn't really say. They say the taint makes grey wardens immune to the blight, which implies that people are transformed into darkspawn, yet we never see this happen to anyone.
I feel like maybe about a third of the story was cut, the important third, and then denerim seige was tacked on the end.
You should really really read the lore and pay attention to the converstations. Pretty much everything you complain about is given more depth or explained.

For example, the true 'bad guy' reveal that most games have wasn't really a factor. It didn't have the scenic diversity that Mass Effect was able to play around with and in turn produce some absolutely stunning visuals.
I think the closest thing DA:O had to originality was its sink kills and the bountiful level of blood effects. However imo the combat was too reliant on the D&D ruleset which has become very outdated and boring to me. They should i feel have really pushed the boundaries with the combat and, although keeping it third person and tactic, really made it unique.

Like - killing the dragon is actually pretty impossible in PnP unless you catch them in a cave. The fight SHOULD center entirely around missile combat and cover. The dragon should strafe and use spells. And it should fly away when it gets hurt - just to follow your dudes for the rest of their pitiful human lifespan!

Really? I was disappointed. I keep looking for the PnP dragon fight in a CRPG, but I always feel let down. It's just a big dude with lots of hitpoints, a couple AoEs, and a bunch of sweeps.

I've also always thought this ^ Like to actually kill one you should have to destroy its wings with missle fire or trap one with some sort of balista projectile with a rope and heavy weight.
Whether a game could pull this off is yet to be seen.

The dragon fights were fun for me. I had to micro my entire party to kill one.

I notice many other people compare the game to wow too, but i cant see it because i didnt play it. However i imagined it, it would not be like DAO, and im pretty happy with the game.
The gameplay feels a little incomplete imo, is that what you mean? Perhaps because its neither of what i had seen, but a mixture, so it seems incomplete in one direction?
From a tactic gameplay value i agree ,that hard mode is really the easy one.
