ok i got to Orzammar and helped both canidates out with their firsts quests.... but then i pesuaded both of them that i'd spy on the other one and now i don't think i can continue with the story because both of their party's want me to talk to thier opposing leaders before i can continue.... did i just royally screw up or is there something i can do? I cannot however speak to the representitives until i have some sort of blackmailing infor on the other.
If i need to start over than i'm probably not going to play anymore.... it took 75 hours to get to where i am now!

Same happened here, at 70 hours...From reading a bunch of different forums including this one, it is apparently a common problem with no work around. No, you cannot continue the main story line now. Infuriating. I had a backup save, but from 30 hours ago. Oh well.

why is there no official response to this yet? it has been weeks? Is bioware really going to leave a game breaking bug in their game?

Could you guys clarify what your problem is for me a bit? Your all stuck in Orzaamar like the Op or you guys are just stuck somewhere in the game?

Hmm reminds me of creating new savegames every key moment. You should do too!

If you fight in the proving and show dice and the other guy the fake documents it breaks the game. That is as simple as i can make it. If you do both, the game ends. There is nothing you can do. It is a game breaking bug.

Eshme the problem that lots of us have is that we put too much faith in Bioware. Most people that encounter this problem don't recognize it as a bug at first. It just seems like you must have to do something else to progress the story and pick a side. So when you first see the problem, you just go and do other things. I had plenty of saves I could have gone back to if I had known what I did broke the game. There was no way to known the game was broken until much much later after you exhaust all other options (including for me maxing persuasion).

I wouldnt. Just saying that it makes more sense than replay the whole game as the OP. It happens in many games, that are more or less complex. Faith ok, but as you see it didnt help.
Please consider. Im not condoning a stopper.
