Ok I am sick of people saying this game is a 9+ ... Baldurs Gate 1 was a 9 and Baldurs Gate 2 was at the least a 9.5. I have been playing that game for YEARS learning something new or coming up with new game play ideas. Dragon Age: Origins is very much so inferior to both of these games.
Tell me of all the superior story twists in this game. (For those air heads who claim the story is good enough to make up for the grotesque graphical flaws)
Let us take a look at some of the flaws to this game.
1. Only way to get enough money in the game to get a lot of the great items of the game is to be a Dwarf Nobel, and sell everything to Gorim. Sure if you play on normal or casual you save money but I'm not looking for easy. Lets not forget its MORE expensive to create a potion than it is to buy one (WTF).
2. The pathing system during combat is at times atrocious ... you know what they say "the shortest distance between two points is a straight line" ... a lot of times your ai finds it hard to move around people in the battle field and be "stuck" between two people fighting as he's trying to get to his mark.
3. A nonsense skill/technique tree so my fighter can learn to brew potions and make traps yet only rogues can pick locks? I don't really mind this but it doesn't make much sense to me.
4. 80% of the game is forming these alliances which you do not need during the final battle. There is some ok story in this 80% of game play but most of the interesting stuff if the banter between characters, which has always been hilarious with bioware games.
5. The best animation in the game was done by a perv (being the desire demon who groaps herself in the fade, which actually looks semi life like).
6. There are so many minor graphical flaws it makes me think bioware said screw it and pushed the game out. The game is riddled with sloppy graphical errors. Ask me for a list and I will go back through the entire game and write them all down if I must make a point. I am sure I saw one every 5 through 10 minutes or so. For a 50+ hour game that makes way too many to not become annoying.
7. The graphics are rather lack luster and a lot are extremely out dated no matter what system you are using ... PC or Console.
8. The story for the game just isn't really that epic at all kinda a melting pot of ideas slapped together. Aye the world is a new one and I will say their DnD based games already had the extreme advantage of a world flushed out and developed for them. However the story behind Mass Effect was pretty damn good in my opinion.
9. How many times do I have to play a mute in a Bioware RPG?
10. Its Sad when the most sick party I can build is based around 3 mages and 1 theif. Lets also not forget 80% of the specialties are bogus and lame.
11. Why do my weapons not convey their elemental damages when I use techniques? Do they suddenly lose their enhancements or as sandal would put it "enchantment!"?
I can go on and on and on and on about all the flaws in this game. If this game is a 9 or a 10 then BG1 is an 11 (on a scale of 10? And BG2 is a 12) lets be real people the game has a lot of potential but it doesn't pass the line of epic or even great for that matter.
DA:O deffinately not FTW!

Your opinions are facts and you are, in fact, the Maker 80% of your spare time. The other 20% I dunno.

If your bloody worried about money, then simple. Buy potions instead of making them, sell the potion crafting parts. If your character is greedy as always asks about rewards, you can leave lothering with 20 gold easy.

Only thing I would change from bg2's graphics is the character models and the lack of ambient animations/character schedules. I quite like the environmental details. These games don't need to be crysis like just consistent

any time I play an RPG (which is seldom) I find myself mulling over ways it could be better. Some areas I've been disappointed while others I've been pleasantly surprised

I found the graphics to be very well done personally.

It's fun to look through rose colored glasses and nostalgia. This game is just as good as BG 1 and 2.

I wonder why people assume rose tinted glasses when a lot of posters who played it for the first time like 2 years ago still think it a superior game

you're right. You should take the game back to the store immediate.... nevermind.
You don't seem to understand the qualities that make up a 9+ game these days and just focus on the incredibly small stuff. (Also: the cost of really good items goes down as you level, much like every item in the game)
Also, the usage of the words "bogus", "sick" and "perv" make me think you're either a troll or this guy: http://www.infendo.c.../nerd-46422.jpg

So its ok to downgrade your graphics when putting out a new game? No it is not unless it is much less flawed. If PS1 graphics are ok with you on some of the textures then you let me know. They had better textures in PS1 game or **** even on the Sega 32x don't be a twit and say lack luster graphics isn't important when you have half the game look pretty and the other half disgusting
As far as money goes play the game on nightmare difficulty and see how far you get with ONLY buying potions. Yeah not very far as you have to spend far more on traps. Oh and making any rogue in the game non lack luster at that difficulty means a lot of money on traps and poisons.

I find it particularly amusing that someone who has played the Infinity Engine games would whine about pathing issues. If you want I could probably do a bullet format list of issues with the BG series too(the ways in which it departed from its PnP counterpart could make a hefty list on its own). No game is perfect, it just comes down to whether or not you enjoyed it or not. I enjoyed both the BG series as well as DAO. Are there thing I'd like to change? Sure(the lock picking discrepancy you mentioned being one of them). Doesn't mean I dislike the game and hey, some of the issue I have probably will be changed eventually by modders. Good thing I got the PC version.

I have no problem with people coming here to voice their opinions about this game. I am surprised that the graphics comes up so frequently. I think the graphics look really great. I look at the amount of detail in the landscapes, the structures, the patterns in the cloth and materials used for clothing and I think it looks very carefully crafted.

BG1 had really nasty pathing especially in Durlag's Tower. had to move the group one at a time in most places or they would walk miles in an opposite direction.

Huh, I never touched traps, most likely won't even on higher difficulties if I play them. I don't touch poisons either.
Please good sir, link us to a 'good' graphics game. I find dragon age graphics to be in line with what is top-of-the-line today for 360.

Yeah, see, you lose your whole argument with making statements like that. Unless you can back this up with some screenshots, we all know this is complete BS to try and pad your argument.
So, show us some screenshots.

The pathing improved with additional search nodes. Also pathing got significantly better in BG2 due to characters being able to bump movables instead of running across the entire map because someone was blocking an alleyway.

Yes I am a Bioware Troll because I feel every other game they have put out is far superior to this game except maybe the Sonic RPG for the DS. In fact Bioware is the company who got me hooked on video games. I heard by my friend how awesome baldurs gate was in middle school and I bought a copy and I was enthralled. I was also captivated by how great Mass Effect was for a console game. On these new gen platforms it was so great I could over look the flaws of that game and say it was great.
