Don't even get me started on their novel, you want a book to read pick up The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin, hell any David Gemmel book would put their novel to shame.

So the sponge is now giving advice on what sort of literature is any good?

Better items than BG2? You're on cocaine ... and name one character in this game that is better than cespenar from BG2 TOB. Oh wait you can't. Viconia Edwin Minsc Jaheria Korgan all much more interesting characters than anyone in DA:O

Your word is 'a' reality. Not necessarily 'the' reality, and certainly not enough of a social construct as to transcend into 'an important' reality. Just sayin...

DA is superior to BG2 in nearly every meaningful way. Better rgaphics, music, characters, combat, character system, writing, story, C&C, beginnings, endings, lore, items, etc., etc.

BG2 IS DEAD LONG LIVE DA!

Would make for an interesting poll to see how many Bioware fans that played BG at its release, either 1 or 2 feel the same way. Otherwise you're comment is worthless.

Before someone quotes me  yes launch play counts. BG blew me away at launch DA:O just make me think "wow". Will I look back at DA:O with rose tinted glasses? yes probably but by no means will it make me want to replay it more than thrice.

Yet I still think its a better game. ~ as stated in post 1.

It's fun to look through rose colored glasses and nostalgia. This game is just as good as BG 1 and 2.

Not really? It substituted some misdirection and shiny objects for content and polish.

But don't worry, you'll be able to pay 10 dollars every few months for more minimalistic content instead of a complete game or expansion.

It's okay though, every thing you find wrong with DA:O, instead of actually releasing a patch, BioWare instead responds with: Wait for the players to make a mod to fix it.

Heh, not even MW2 has the greatest graphics. Looking at the guy against the wall you go "Hey that looks like a real person"

Then look at the guy near the camera, I can see some pixels on the backpack and the hair around the neck looks odd. IMO at least.

You must be trolling? Seriously, Cespenar the Moronic Piece of Poo? Even a nug is better than Cesspool.

Your comment is igmorant therefore illogical. BIO fans are irrelevant to me. The facts are there. DA > BG2 Period.

A true BIO fan would commend and congratulate BIo for continually improving their games in the way they matter like C&C and depth instead of keeping them dumbed ala BG.

Ok Crawling lets hear what great piece of literature you read? Let me guess Harry Potter? DnD books? I'd like to know because I am fairly certain that I have read some extremely amazing books in my time.

If I had to complain at all about the graphics in this game the only thing I would gripe about is the flowing water in Redcliffe or the lava in Orzammar. I felt those could have been slightly more polished but other than that the graphics are far from inferior to the rest of the gaming field. I would also like to point out this isn't meant to be a flashy game it's supposed to be a game of substance. If you want graphics and flash go jump on Crysis, Uncharted 2, CoD:MW2, AC2 etc. For a great game that has depth and story this is definitely the game of choice until ME:2 is available.

As far as comparing BG:1-2 to this game it's quite a moot point. No developer or production company will allow games to be developed in the manner they used to be produced. If you think EA's acquisition of Bioware helps either you're kidding yourself. Go read Molyneux's bio if you want a little insight into how EA operates. He severed his ties with them and for good reason, they weren't allowing him to develop his games up to his standards. They (EA) take a very rushed approach to game releases at least from what I've read. Which undoubtedly hinders what could be an epic game were it allowed to be given the attention to detail games of the past were allowed.

I don't know if you've noticed but Bioware games have become significantly shorter since 2005. The year they happened to merge and become a partner company rather than an independent company as they had been for the 10 years prior. Those 10 years were the years that gave us the Baldur's Gate series, NWN1, and SW:KOTOR. Since then we've had two great titles come out under the EA/Bioware banner in ME and DA:O. Granted they don't share the same scale of the BG series they are great games.

The point to take away from this post as a Baldur's Gate and Bioware fan is this: It's not fair to compare the old work to new as it's under new management, granted the teams and production are still there but whether or not they are able to exercise their creative minds to their full potential is up for debate. Just accept the fact that these new games are what you can expect from Bioware from here on out and be grateful. It is saddening, that a game that measures up to the grand scale of Baldur's Gate will likely never be matched. However, our RPG appetite's can at least be met by the quality of games we are now being provided with from Bioware and other developers.

Any of the Terry Brooks books, Lord of the Rings, a few other authors.

And to the person saying a none-BG fan's post is worthless? LoL is all I have to say to you.

The greatest insult that came out of DA:O was the claim that it was a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate.

RIP Black Isle Studios, you'll be missed.

Sorry? I am not ignorant, I like DA:O and think its a better game. I'm not really trying to argue that its not and have not said so. I just know many many people who are totally disappointed with Dragon Age for the reasons you seem to think its better than BG2. These are not facts sir they are your opinion just as my opinion isn't fact. I believe it is you who is ignorant.

That claim also put a BIG nail in DA:O's coffin, if they had claimed it was an entirely new game people would judge it as such, but now it's always going to be judged by the Baldur's Gate's and by most found lacking.

Sorry if I know and epic game from a great game and a great game from a good game.

I've seen more impressive cell shading in games than a lot of the graphics for this one. Look at crystals on the wall then look at them on shale there is a HUGE difference but why should there be? Bioware got lazy that's why.

I don't take it as an insult but...

the second line, about Black Isle being missed, I whole-heartedly agree with!

I also miss Origins and Troika.

Maybe if you read my post. You might not "LoL". I did not in anyway shape or form imply that a non BG fan's post is worthless. I typed "

Would make for an interesting poll to see how many Bioware fans that played BG at its release, either 1 or 2 feel the same way. Otherwise you're comment is worthless. "

Which basically means "If you didnt play BG1 or 2 at launch as well as Dragon Age, its worthless to judge." and I stand by this. You need to remember that for the time BG was something fresh, new and remarkably great in its scope. DA:O, even though as I've stated more than once, I prefer it. DA:O just isn't anything revolutionary it's a superb game but its not going to make people sit back and think "Woha this could be the greatest game I've ever played" if they were a fan of the original series. I know off hand of 6 people who have no interest what so ever in Dragon Age after buying it, and only three who brought and are still playing it on it's UK release date.

Anyway to call an end to this thread Planescape Torment is the best roleplaying game ever made. This my chaps is a true fact.

Well if bioware is going to continue to "rush" 5 year games you let me know.
