I do not know if it is just me, but this scene came immediately to mind, followed by a slight /palmface:

I had three thoughts:

1. How come this is day one DLC?
2. Aw well, I'll play as-is and then buy the DLC after playing my game vanilla.
3. After seeing the ending: Ohhhh that's why it was day one DLC....cuz after seeing this I wouldn't give them more money.

It's not a jamaican accent. It's african.

That.

Also I thought "Liara is going to be sorely disappointed with this one."

That is not a Jamaican accent...

I for one thought it fit great. He sounded wise and exotic.

The voice of Javik was provided by the writers' pot dealer.

Ey mon, I give you straight up deal on the good stuff if you put me in da game.

Dead on. That sounded west african to me. Which is good, because it's a beautiful voice.

You guys seriously can't talk about the character without resorting to stereotyping?

I personally have no problem with Javik, I had the same general feeling about his character that Liara did though.

A powerful and mysterious race and then they turned out to be Romans but even crueler.

Kept waiting for him to say "Jah love be wit you, Shepard, Mon" and kept looking for the herb in his quarters.

I thought he sounded Kenyan, it's definitely a more African sounding accent... I think

Then again, after the Zaeed threads last game, its clear a lot of us can't tell the difference between an Australian and a British accent so...

First impressions were: interesting design, very interesting accent. Kind of a jerk. Warmed up to him later, though.

Yep, this. I never thought he sounded Jamaican. Nigerian, yes. Caribbean, hell no.

As for what I thought about Javik. Actually I liked him a lot. He made me think that all Prothians were a**holes, but he brought a lot of clarity and emotion to the missions. He had a lot of deep expression to his face that was lacking in a lot of the other characters, which is a shame for them.

I would have liked Djimon Hounsou en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djimon_Hounsou for the role though.

^^ This.

I like Javik.
He seems to think his job is to troll the **** out of the other characters.

Well, the room was kinda foggy looking. And he rapped with Shep about some really heavy sh*t. :P

I thought there really must be more containers like his. I mean, seriously, 1 living Prothean out of how many? and his container was not even stored on Ilos. And then he has a "memory tablet", how many of those things are on Ilos?! we should go back there and have Javik remembering everything there is to remember and then share the ancient knowledges.

I thought he was a great character, not necessarily likeable, but a good character. he has this sadness to him, and it's not from some humans thinking he has a Jamaican accent either, but from being a person basically lost in time now. :P

Definitely African accent, I feel bad for not being able to differentiate it more though. Just shocked people thought it was Jamaican.
