Hi. With ME3 out there and being discussed so harshly I wanted to take a look at it myself. But since I hadn't played me for years I wanted to go through it once more. Went into the store and bought a new copy. Problem is: I can't seem to get the installer to work. I tried everything I could think of and found on the net. I have it running on compatibility mode( I've got win 7 64bit) as admin in admin, I deactivated the firewall and A/V, the UAC, too. still nothing. Not even in safe mode did it run, there suddenly seemed to be the vcredis.exe missing... Well, that was just a thought anyways. So I complied and tried installing manually. All seemed to work, except that the config always crashed until I installed 1.02. So then I was thinking it'd work, but noooo... After the videos when I try to enter the meny it just crashes on me... I REALLY want to play me1, actually at home it works just fine, also win 7 but different hardware, but right now I'm not home but abroad for study, meaning I can't just go over and play it there...
I know that there are tons of threads like this on the net, but I didn't find anything helpful so I just added one thread to it.
Hope you guys know of some genius way to beat me into submission and work nicely.
My Sys:
Acer ASpire Notebook 7741G
Intel i3-370M 2.4GHz
ATI mobility Radeon HD 5600
4GB DDR3
I know it is a little old, but still I have already run it on the laptop back in the days I was still going to school...
Oh by the way, I also updated all drivers already.

Don't forget, apply the patch right away.  ME-1 will never start in Win7 without that patch.  Make extra special care that in the past two years, you didn't let the laptop start to use the i3's onboard chip as the default, because that is exactly how a PC with only an i3's video will act, as well.

well, I looked into it and realised I didn't have an onboard graphics chip which it could use...
Or do you mean the cpu is used as gpu, too? Then I wouldn't know how to disable it...
Right now I'm trying some older drivers, hope thats going to get me a little bit farther into the game...

Edit: No, didn't work either...the config also uses the hd radeon as graphics chip. looks like I'll be unable to play this game for the next few weeks...

The i3 and i5 Intel chips have a piggy backed intel video chip inside the package with the CPUs. If it hasn't been damaged (constant problem for laptop GPUs because of the very poor thermal protection), the HD 56-whatever should run the game again.

hmm, well I tried checking if I can deactivate the onboard chip, but in contrast to all sources I could find I only can find the radeon card. not even in the bios. I'll try a driver update from intel, maybe that helps. Do you know a way for me to check if the onboard chip is activated or damaged?
