Yes, it can be done and it is extremely easy!  I am playing the game at the moment romancing Kaidan with mShep .  First of all, thanks go to The King of Dust for their PC instructions and also forum member goodventure for linking me to The King of Dust's original Ashley/femShep thread.  Without both of those I would never have worked it out, so thanks!

First of all, you need to have a fresh save file for ME1, preferably right after the opening scene with Joker, Kaidan and Shepard.  It can be a brand new Shepard or it can be a NG+ Shepard.  Custom Sheps are fine.  Make a male Shep for Kaidan and female for Ashley.  Once you have your new, fresh save, you need to get it onto a PC.  If you know how to do that, great!  If not, you need a USB stick formatted by the 360 and transfer the save to the stick via the memory managment screen on the 360.

Programs I recommend for the actual editiong part are Modio 4beta for extracting/saving the save file and HxD for the hexing part.  Now the instructions:

First of all have the USB stick with that fresh save in the laptop and right click on Modio 4's EXE and run as administrator. In Modio click "open from device", it should then show a profile number, just keep clicking until you see the ME1 save and click on it. When the save is selected and opened, you should see some information about the save in the top half and in the bottom half 2 "windows" On the left it will havethe save file's name with the ME1 logo and in the second window it should have the "player.sav, state.sav, WorldSavePackage.sav" files

Right click on the "state.sav" file and choose "extract" and save it the desktop or where ever you like. Now open HxD, click on "file, open" and browse for the "state.sav" file. When it opens, click on the drop down bar that says "ANSI" and change it to "DOS/IBM ASCII" Look at the "offset (h)" column and scroll down until you see "00000270" line. It should be all zeros, in the "07" column, highlight those 2 zeros and type "80", that's it! Now save it. For Ash, the 07 column will have "80", change it to "00"

Back in Modio, right click on the "state.sav" file again and delete it then right click in that window and
choose "add file", browse for the edited "state.sav" file and press OK. In the left hand side of Modio, click "Rehash and Resign" followed by "Save to device"

Put the USB stick back into the 360, load up thesave and laugh as everyone calls your hot, manly Shepard "ma'am" :D I think the first time I heard Kaidan say it was when we met Ash on Eden
Prime so once you hear that, everything should have worked. If you have any problems, please let me know!

So far everything is working the same as in the PC version with Meer voicing all the lines with the
exception of cut scenes such as the prothean beacon scene. There has only been 2 lines so far with no voice and subs only, but it's best to play with subs on in case there are more. I've already had what seems to
be the first convo that leads to the romance path and it all played out the same as this video so I am hopeful that the rest of the game will be the same.

It's just after 2am here now so I will try and post some photos of the game tomorrow.  They will only be crappy "photos of my TV" shots however :P

This is not sufficient for Ashley because there is one critical gender flag check that you have to bypass.

Here are the instructions for Ashley and also a way to do this without using a Hex Editor

For what it's worth I was able to create a modded import for FemShep on Xbox 360 who romanced Ashley in ME1. So far it has been working out pretty well. At one point I get Shelaloo voicing FemShep but after that the dialog is just silent. I'll let you know if I can complete the romance this way.

How did you manage that? Is it done through the ME save editor or with a modded 360? Do you know if Kaidan/mShep is possible through save edditing or mods?

I learned this from http://social.biowar...3/index/2277020

- Choose a career where you have not romanced anyone in ME2 (Kelly seems OK) since you can not change the ME2 romance flags.
- Go to system/storage and MOVE your save game to a USB stick (entire career) which was a little scary. You can not copy it for some reason.
- Plug your stick into your PC (or Mac running parallels in my case)
- I used modio to open the stick. (http://www.game-tuts...hp?pageid=modio)
- take this time to click on show file (near the top by the file path) and back up your file
- I clicked on show files and chose the save I wanted to mod and right clicked to extract it to my PC
- I opened it in the modified gibbed save game editor (http://social.biowar...m/project/4373/)
- Make sure you edit the ME1 flags in both ME1 tabs.
- I removed Liara as my LI and set her romance progress to 0
- I set Ashley as my LI and set her romance progress to 6
- make sure that you have saved her on Vimire if not change it so you and and remove Kadien
- edit other options you want to change such as destroying heratics or saving Maelin's data
- save your file with a new number just for good measure
- go back to modio and go to the file list
- right click to inject your save back into the career file
- click on General File Info
- click Rehash & Resign
- then click save to device
- make sure you eject your device safely and then plug into your xbox
- now COPY your file back to your xbox. Yes you can copy it back.
- import based on your new save entry and you should see your new choices in the import data

Note: I did also make an import where my FemShep had romanced Kaiden and even one where the ME2 flags for Thane were set along with ME1:Ashley. I haven't tried that one yet but it may also work. I see no reason why you can't make a mShep Kaiden import but I can't say what will happen in game.

** UPDATE **

I have sucessfully complete this romance. There is only one place where the gender flag is checked and that is when they meet at the cafe on the citadel.

To get past that do, make a save before you talk to Ashley. Then do this same process but use gibbed's ME3 save game editor to change isFemale to false and go through this scene with what will look like a huskified FemShep model (this kind of adds to the charm in a way because of the sacrifice my FemShep had to endure to win the love of her life) and then once that scene is done edit the save to set isFemale back to true. To be sure double check that AshleyTrueLove is now set to true but if you did the dialog and everythign right it should be.

Now you can finish the game and enjoy a beautiful SS romance with an occasional voice change (thankfully it isn't too bad) and silent dialog.

Does this affect the saves in future games? Like do they still call my man shep "ma'am" in ME2 and 3? Or is it just this one?

When I imported my modified savegame (Modified female Shepard in order to romance Ashley) into ME2, she was recognized and referred to as female by all NPC. Should be the same for male Shepard (as in, he should be seen as male by the game). This was on PC mind you, but I think it's reasonable to assume that it's the same for the 360 in this case.

As for ME3, Aurelia's got that info covered.

Interesting, still cautious about editing crucial game files. If I can pull it off, it will be my first Femshep play through ever.

This is probably a really stupid question and I apologize for that, but these programs you mentioned for editting the filesave - are they also available for a Mac or are there Mac equivalents available? I've got hopes to make an mShenko fanvid but I'm stuck with a 360 and a Mac. :(

Nevermind, found a program that lets me run PC programs on my Mac. We'll see if I can make this happen :)

Quick bump for this topic. :]

I just finished my ME1 run with my modded Shepard (I romanced Kaidan woohoo!), so does anyone know if this modded male Shepard has the ability to seek a relationship with Jacob or Garrus in ME2? Or does the fact that you're recognized as a man again in ME2 mean you're "back to normal" and can only romance Miranda, Jack, or Tali? Because I'm curious, if that's the case, what if you "cheat" on Kaidan with Miranda? I don't think that will be recognized in ME3, lol, since normally, that's not possible.

Unfortunately, running Modio on a Mac is tricker than the tutorials make it sound (that, or I'm just stupid haha). I ended up busting out my HP laptop and using it for the save game editing, and it worked like a charm!

Pro-tip: You get proof it worked a bit sooner than going to Eden Prime. Make sure you talk to Jenkins and Chakwas before you go speak to Nihlus; at the end of the conversation, Jenkins will call your male Shepard "ma'am." :) Worth a giggle.

Thank you for the instructions! I look forward to finishing recording and making this music video <3

I'm trying to do this now, but I can't even seem to get past the second first step. I have a thumbdrive that I configured, I moved my save game (and my ME1 gamer profile) to it, but when I plug it in to my laptop the drive shows nothing on it for me to open in Modio >:-( WTF. Has anyone else had (and more importantly overcome) this stupid problem?

I know this is a great option to have but be careful when modding on the 360.

Technically this is system tampering, and while it is very unlikely Microsoft could detect it, that chance of getting your profile banned is still there.
