IMHO it stopped being fully their story to tell any way they wanted as soon as they started making statements about how the endings would work out & such.  When BW started that they lost the moral high ground to handle the game any way they saw fit.

This is exactly what most wanted - the Crucible, the ending scenes properly explained, and closure with our game in it's entirety. They can't tell you exactly what they're doing... obviously. And neither can they please everybody, so get over yourselves you whiny brats.

This is great news, thank you BW. Let's hope you deliver it with style, like 99% of the original game.

you should'nt call people whiny brats. that just rude, plain and simple.

It's probably just going to be some text/slide epilogue like at the end of DA:O

It will help some but there are plenty of people who still wont be happy with being forced to just do what the Reapers tell you to do.

Thats not entirely true.  When you promote a product as a player controlled story, and your game is largely played that way, you have stick to that design method.

They might as well just share their plans with people instead of causing a disaster when that DLC comes out.

Here's hoping they at least add medication to the med bay that lets you get rid of Shepard's idiotic dreams about that child (That he even has after having 'sex')..Psychopharmaca are already quite advanced nowadays and I expect humanity to have even better meds in 100 years. So it wouldn't be too much to ask if we could just skip the part in which Bioware tries to force an emotion onto us.

It isn't a moral issue, Almar.  They REALLY DO OWN the IP.  The only reason the Reatke movement had any headway at all is because Bioware 's...erm...public identity, I suppose...is based on the fact they respond and listen to fan feedback in the creation of their future wroks.  They want to maintain that image, so we have Bioware responding to us (Retake ME3) in a manner other than "Sorry you didn't like the ending, but it is what it is."

And since I know peopel will say this: No, they aren't saying the above.  If they were, the tweet and Ray's blog post would have never happened.

I don't think it proves that nothing will make "them" happy.  There are common elements that most of the dissatisfied fanbase wants to see.  Give them those elements and you stand a greater chance of satisfying your customers than you do if you only give them some of those elements (and arguably the less important ones).  If you're saying that nothing will make every single gamer happy, then you're right, but that's an unreasonable goal that nobody is actually, seriously expecting BioWare to meet.

I doubt this very much as it would do very little to quell peoples disatisfaction. In fact, with a lot of people, I can see such a half hearted approach making matters even worse.

Advertising statements are not the same thing as actual ownership.  I'm very glad they're listening
to us, but the idea that they actuall ceeded any ownership of the franchise is ridiculous.

They promised 16 different endings, where choices matter. Let's do some little math here:

Control ending
Merge ending
Good/Bittersweet/Bad Destroy endings

That's 5 endings. Where are the others?

My point is, we were expecting sixteen different outcomes based on the choices we made. It's obvious and not so far fetched to think that there would've been these endings but also different outcomes such as a total defeat and an awesome victory. It's understandable that most people got mad recieving three slightly different endings all in the same shade of grey in a nihilistic fashion.

I'm more than sure that if they implemented the two hypothetical outcomes I've portrayed above, none (and I strongly repeat: NONE) of this would have happened.

Next topic: Closure. They promised no cliffhangers or Lost-like endings, they gave us both (LOTS OF SPECULATION FOR EVERYONE \\o/)

That said, damn right we're asking for a change. We simply want the product they promised us, nothing more, nothing less.

Still convinced that we don't have the right to ask anything? If this bothers you simply walk away, this is NOT your "fight".

It is not difficult to construct 3-4 new endings that will please the vast majority of people who hate the current endings. Seeing as pretty much everyone loves the type of choices offered at the end of Dragon Age: Origins, they can revisit the concept of choice behind that.

You're kidding me right? Do you know how to make video games? No? Then how can you say it isn't difficult. It would take money and time.

They said they aren't changing the endings. Nor should they have to. They're sticking by their writers.

Time and money are debatable as concerns.  It's presumable they'll be selling this as DLC so they'll fix the price to make up the difference and gain profit.  All due respects you didn't actually give him a chance to answer whether or not he had an understanding of what goes into the developing of a video game.

And while they didn't say they were changing the endings they didn't say they weren't.  We're left with a bit much ambiguity to say one way or another right now.  If anything, since we're only over two weeks into the release of ME3 it's probable that they don't have a specific plan on how they're going to approach things.  Or if they do have a plan then any number of things could change along the way.  Development processes aren't straight lines.

I'm going to try to be optimistic and hope this means the indoctrination theory is correct. If this is just trying to justify stargodchild/ventboy, I won't be buying anything else from bioware. We wanted change not "clarification" on why they botched the ending.

This.

There's a handful of other things that people wanted that are missing, or that people disagree with. Personally I don't like how they designed Tali's face and all that, but I do not believe at all that they will change it, nor do I expect them to. They never promised that Tali would look different than that.

The ending is terrible. Bioware said it would be different than it currently is. Combine that with a large amount of people that disliked/hated it, and it makes sense for them to change it. Regardless of your stance, they still dropped the ball.

With the IGN Spoilercast getting on the Indoc bandwagon, I wouldn't be suprised if Fanon becomes Canon.

Ok, in principle you are right. But violating that principle by changing the ending causes less harm than would be caused by leaving things the way they are. Because if this ending is real, Bioware's writing and imagination are in a terrible state and they should consider doing games for children rather than people in their late teens adults.

The DLC is just gonna ****** everyone off all over again.

Because they won't back down and we won't want to give them our money after being twice insulted.

Here is how I feel about it.

The problem IS the ending itself. The entire premise of it. It's just bad and poorly written. So basically, I don't think any clarification or explanation will change that (Star Child and his logic will still be there). That is, unless by clarification they run with Indoctrination. But I honestly do not believe that anymore, given what has been said.

I truly think the ending was the work of the two lead writers, who wanted to make something artsy and memorable. And it just didn't work out. This of course is 100% just my own subjective opinion, I'm not saying this is fact.

At the end of the day though, I'm okay with an ending I find to be bad. As long as that bad ending is fleshed out and is coherent. And so, while I am a bit bummed the DLC won't have more choices (ie. Altering the ending), I'm still glad they are working towards improving the ending they gave us.
