It's funny how people think that the endings can't be clarified. They explained quite a few of the plot-holes from ME2 in ME3 quite handily.

I'm pretty sure they can easily explain the Catalyst and it's logic.

It is sad that people do not realize that is not the point at hand.
Can they easily explain why they stated it would be foolish to have an A B C type ending?
Can they explain how someone who has played through ME1 ME2 and ME3 perfectly will have the same ending if they pick the same direction as someone who only has ME3 but prestiged 67 times in the multiplayer?
Can they explain how you get 5000 EMS in singleplayer in the core game without raising the galatic readiness?

I wouldn't get too worked up just yet. Any DLC that comes out in the near term is just going to be the epilogue that should have been included in the first place. Anything more than that is going to take at least a few months to develop if you want something that isn't going to be really half-assed.

Clarification only goes so far.  Ive managed to make my own BS reasons to justify the mass relays not killing everyone and some of the other glaring holes.

Even with it, the ending is absolutely terrible.

To the folks that may disagree with me in this thread I would specifically like to thank you for both stating your opinions forcefully without throwing mud. As passonate as we may be on one side or another we're still "family" in that we all love ME, we want the best for it, we want the best for BW, etc.

We may have different ways of wanting the best for ME but that's what diversity is all about.

I'm fairly certain thats not what we've been requesting.  Am I just mistaken and dissatisfied, or are they really just not listening correctly?

I actually only want closure and clarity. The ending was done for a reason, I'm sure future games will lead on from the endings in such a way that is awesome. Mass relays may be able 2 be rebuilt, maybe even replaced with cooler stuff.

Thats true, but who says we aren't prepared to wait a few months for it? this is a series that most people on the forums have been playing for 5 years when it was first released. Usually completing it multiple times over and racking up playing times in the hundreds of hours. I think I can safely say that most of "us" are more than willing to wait for the endings we were promised.

I tend to agree that anything we get soon will mostly be epilogues that should have been in the game to start with.  The problem is I honestly think we'll only get one chance to fix this and if we blow it then we're done.  Nobody is going to like to live with those results if we fail.

This.
I don't want clarification on this nihilistic, torturous ending.
I don't want pithy explanations for why Shepard is a quitter and why Joker is a coward.
I want new endings, not this dark age garbage they forced down our throats.

READ: No matter what you do, unless it is specifically tailored to my own wants and needs, I will still be angry!

Sorry, but I don't give people $60 to do whatever the hell they feel like doing. When I order a steak medium rare and the waiter comes back with a piece of bark, I don't sit there contemplating what the chef wanted to do.

^ This ^ - combined with the broken promises (that still have not been explained) is why Bioware must fix this and fix it properly and comprehensively.
Just look at the sheer scale of the uproar.  Any quick 'n' easy route out will equate to Bioware taking their AAA+ reputation and flushing it down the toilet.

I sure hope both Bioware and EA realise this is an absolutely key and pivotal moment for both the franchise and Bioware's reputation.

Agree, but many posters are talking like the DLC needs to come in April or else.

I think people just want to know WHAT is coming. If we knew that we were getting a decent ending DLC with real change rather than "clarification" we could stand to wait as long as it takes.

If BW came out with a DLC that IMHO conformed to their pre-launch statements about the game I'd be happy to wait a year or more.  On top of that I'd almost certainly [just like DA:O, ME1, ME2] buy every single piece of DLC they can throw my way just "because".   If [IMHO] BW lives up to their word they should be rewarded for doing the right thing and for the $ invested.

Note:  I'd like MORE than that as a peace offering but "living up to your word" would probably be good enough.

I think you're right that some people want it released then, not very many though. I get the feeling that most are impatient for a proper announcement of what they are doing to fix the endings and our grievances with them. Once thats done: I'm sure peoples passions will die down, knowing they'll get what they've been striving for.

The announcement isn't for another two weeks yet, I don't know about you, but the suspense is somewhat killing me.

I agree that if we had a lot more concrete details on what BW was planning then everyone would be better off.  Of course getting into "concrete details" is what got BW in trouble pre-launch IMHO.

YMMV

I'd say it all comes down to what the reception to the "fix" is. I think Bioware realizes that they will never be able to satisfy everyone but if there continues to be a large number of players who voice that they are willing to pay for a DLC with an alternate ending option then I think one will eventually be made. If things quiet down after the suspected epilogue release then the likelihood of an alternate ending DLC will be greatly diminished.

While I truly despise the concept of paying for something that I understood should be in the game I'm willing to compromise on that point [to the tune of 30$ or so]. I think I'd be a lot less willing to compromise on anything else because I think paying up to 30$ is plenty of compromise on my part.

they are just going to add some epilogue stuff.

people thinking it will be totally different are deluding themselves

it will still have the catalyst and same ending.

Changing the ending was a pretty tall order. The fact they are doing anything at all is amazing to begin with, cut them some slack

If we were going to get a proper suite of endings that fulfilled the promises we were given, I'd happily wait another year for it. I might have to wait to buy interim DLC until I saw it, but I'd wait that year and continue to play both this and SWTOR which I am seriously wavering on because of ME3.

Honestly it's just this sort of ending that I'd like to fight against.  I honestly think we're only getting one ending fix and I'm worried that it's just going to be "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" sort of thing.

Time will tell.

If you look back at that post on ME Twitter its basically confirming that they will be creating closure & clarification. They will not be changing the story it doesnt look like but....they will still not comment on alt endings. The question was brought up after that and the only response was that they will release additional content info in April. So will we get a newly rewritten ending no but there may still be hope for additional choices and options after the end game.

Hold the Line

I'll be more than happy to pay for a DLC that gives us "wildly divergent endings" and closure. As far as a DLC that "clarifies" the current bespoke ending, not interested.

Well one thing is for sure. If this will something like that, that means no more games from Bioware for me if they "listen" to fans like that.

well, ME twitter/facebook said things that turned out to be false (when they said that they wont do anything to the ending as of now, which was removed shortly after).
I say let's wait for the real and probably more reliable info in April (hopefully during PAX), and dont get disappointed too early. cause I (almost) did.
