I think that only happens when he touches the shard. He wanted to write a book with Liara in my second playthrough.

I'm curious to see what comes of that in my second playthrough, considering I didn't do the paragon interrupt during Liara and Javik's post-Thessia "conversation", immediately went to Liara's cabin to tell her to STFU and get over it, and plan to dissuade Javik from using the memory shard.

Javik has reached the top tier of my favorite Characters. It goes:

1. Garrus
2. Wrex
3. Legion
4. Liara & Tali
5. Mordin
6. Javik
7. Grunt & Thane
8. Jack
9. Kasumi
10. Zaeed & Vega

Kasumi lower than Thane?! For shame!

Haha Thane reminds me of one of my best friends so I'm bias. Kasumi used to be higher...but then ME3 happened and Grunt and Thane grew significantly more badass!! Kasumi and Jack should actually be tied with Grunt and Thane but then too many people would be tied lol

Loved him until he said we should throw legion out an airlock then i was well **** you to and since he said that i didnt bring him anywhere or talk to him until the final mission cause you know i just had to bring him to bring down the reapers but oh wait that didnt matter cause he wasnt there to help me!

I felt pretty bad for Liara. After all those years of study pretty much idealizing them she finds out that Javik, and the Protheans in general, are kind of...well... if you read one of her shadow broker emails in specific you'll see she had serious doubts about her career path.

Wish i could stab him in the face >_>

Unfortunately, such a choice was never given to me.
He and Vega were to be my sacrifices, if someone from my squad needed to die, id leave that to them XD

I still haven't seen Thane in Mass Effect 3 yet. I've heard good things though.

He was a jerk, but a fun one. I think he had some of the best in-mission banter of anyone.

Pretty sure Vega was is the worst squadmate in the entire Mass Effect series. Just a boring charachter. They didn't even go anywhere with him being reckless, which would have been SOMETHING at least.

I liked everything but his accent. Claiming the design was inspired by samurai/ancient far-eastern culture and then have an African voice seemed...off. The problem is that most Americans (the largest part of ME players by a huge margin) would associate it with Jamaica before Africa. As a result, I kept thinking he was supposed to be some stoner reference I didn't get. As a result, I stopped dragging him along and went with the time-proven stratagem of bringing whichever squad-mate carries the most firepower. It wasn't until after I beat the game and was emotionally devestated by the ending that I find out Javik is Ethiopian or something, and I felt like the accent was even more random.

Vorcha would have been cool. Didn't I turn over leadership of the Blod Pack to a Vorcha? That guy owes me one. He can go up and die after a confusing lecture by starchild.

This is so closetly racist it's hilarious.

I couldn't stand him, either as a squadmate in combat (useless powers ... I PAID for this?), or as a crew member on my ship.

I just wanted to space him out the airlock and be done with it.

Also, Kasumi is one of my favorite characters in the entire series - definitely top 3 with Garrus and Legion (all 3 of those are too close to call as to which is my favorite). Kasumi's deadpan snarking, Garrus's steadfast friendship and AWESOME scripting, and take Legion to the Citadel once. Just do it - you won't regret it.

Very well written character in my opinion. He was not what I was expecting at all. When he disclosed that the Protheons used to enslave races in that matter of fact way I nearly fell out of my seat !

Same Here. I thought he was a very interesting character ( right up there with Mordin Solus ) and I especially enjoyed his interactions with Liara and his discussions with Shepard, I also loved his trip to the Citadel ( and the Hanar's reaction to meeting him ) and taking him to Thessia. I don't use him much in combat but I enjoy having him on the Normandy to interact with.

Admitedly my initial reactions to Javik wern't favorable. I did not care for the character design, ME1 and ME2 established that Protheans looked very different, Javik looked to much like a Collector and I did not like the fact that the Protheans appearance had been ret-conned ( yes, I now know that 'Prothean' is general term to descibe the fact taht the Prothean Empire was made up of alot of different alien races so his design is now acceptable ). I also had some choice comments about his accent, some of his dialogue had been data mined from the demo and put on youtube and I initailly found it to be offensive ( as a man of colour who was born and grew up in the Caribbean ) and I thought Bioware was making fun of people with accents ( I have a very heavy accent ), well now I admit I was wrong. His voice sounds alot better in the final game and it suits him very well.
