Assuming the series isnt over and they plan on making another Mass Effect game, what kind of game do y'all (im texan) think they could/should make? I can think of maybe 3 scenarios of where they could go in the future, although there likely are many more, better ideas out there. So without further ado, my theories of where they'll go next.

1. A Mass Effect game set prior to the trilogy, where the game will likely be smaller in scale, (no intergalactic extinction war against giant robotic cuttlefish being resolved by a ghost kid) but more in line with Dragon Age 2, although hopefully not as bad.

2. A Mass Effect game in the far future, and the story making the stakes even higher (somehow). The galaxy will be completely different as to what we knew, and they could almost start afresh while still being able to reference "the shepard" and what he did to save (or destroy if you look at it that way) the galaxy. My wild idea would be that the andromeda galaxy is set to collide with the milky way, billions of years in the future, and a completely new set of alien races from that galaxy appear and a massive war starts to try and assert which galaxy is the strongest. I dont really know, I hope bioware are better writers than me and can think of some other scenario that would be cool.

3. A lame multiplayer shooter occuring during the War with the Reapers. Lame but possible with the direction they seem to be headed.

What do y'all think their next game will be about? Will they go bigger, or smaller? In the future, or the past? Its anyones guess, and hopefully whatever it is, it will involve less space magic :wizard:

p.s. sorry for not knowing how to make the link clickable, if someone could tell me ill change it

A FPS based on the First Contact War, which nobody will play because they'll always think about Garrus when they shoot a Turian.

They have a thousands of years worth of history prior to ME1, so they could definitely do something with that. If they do make another game I hope the story is more personal/small scale, I'm really tired of saving the world/galaxy in videogames.

Then its clear the future has no franchise. The Galaxy is back in the dark ages, so you'd spend a whole game stuck on one wrecked planet with no resources.

Whatever it is I think it should involve the Yahg. There were no really evil creatures in ME by the end. The Batarians were poor victims oppressed by their government, starchild made the Reapers want to cuddle us to death, thresher maws wanted to help us in our fight, but the Yahg remained properly nasty.

You start off as Shepard, you do the whole campaign solo, with each squad member costing $10

i was thinking they wouldnt do that, since no humans were involved up until maybe 100 (?) years before Mass Effect 1 so not having humans would not be that good of an idea in my opinion

NO.
Fix endings.
They we can talk... maybe... on second thought I think I'd rather just let the series end.
(but really, fix that ending ;) )

Honestly, I don't see any way to maintain any continuity with individual player's decisions if ME4 is not going to be an "import your save" game. I think we'll see something completely different or an FPS.

Well, let's see:

1. A prequel. I have absolutely no interest in this as in a series where decisions (ARE SUPPOSED TO) matter, there would be no point and no long-term consequences for anything. No interest.

2. A sequel in space. Which is impossible really due to having 2 different states: everyone stranded in a new Dark Age and completely ****ed, and everyone stranded in a new Dark Age and completely ****ed but with robot parts. Although they could just go with something as your choices never really mattered anyway. But it's not like there'd be intergalactic space travel in this game.

3. A sequel set far, far into the future, when sufficient space travel has been rediscovered. But this would be a ridiculous amount of time if at all (and given what we know from the ending and about the universe, it never happening would seem more likely but anyway) so what's the point? At that point you might as well make a new series.

Whatever it is, I have no interest unless this ending is repaired. And even then... the fact that every choice you ever made winds down to galactic Dark Age worries me that this may be the set up for a future title. I'm scared.

even though it seems way out there, i believe this could be a way to go. They could make the game so ridiculously far in the future, the whole universe isnt as we knew it this trilogy, and they could basically reivent a whole new galaxy with maybe some subtle nods to what the galaxy used to be like. And like i said in the op, something like Andromeda galaxy alien war would be pretty cool to lead into for maybe a new trilogy, but then again, it seems like that could be a little repetitive

Could be set entirely within the Local System (you could travel between solar systems without the Mass Relays) with the increased competition for less resources creating strife. There's plenty of interesting ways they could go with that.

As people have said, I'd rather see Mass Effect 3 finished first before I start thinking about any future games set in that universe.

I thInk we're looking at a Mass Effect MMO, set on a ruined Earth with the survivors of the various fleets marooned there, struggling to survive. Will you cooperate, or form factions and fight for resources? "Your choice shape the game!"

I like the idea of it taking place far enough in the future to where no matter which ending you pick the result is the same, which would work as if you picked the Synthesis ending.

Destroy synthetics? Organics will improve tech so they don't develop self-actualization and instead implant it on themselves. Control? Organics will use synthetic (Reaper) tech to improve themselves (like the geth). It would have to be far enough in the future for this type of evolution to take place...a time where The Shepard is just a history lesson and we're clearly not near Sol...maybe it's about Earth getting rediscovered?

Not sure where they would go with it, but there's no way they spend all the time creating this rich galaxy and then throw everything in it away. Oh wait....
