Actually, I think a sequel set far into the future would be pretty cool, where a new form of interstellar travel has been discovered. It could focus on how all the races we knew in ME1-3 changed during that time, how their isolation changed their technology and beliefs, and how they react to the sudden reintegration to intergalactic travel.

Earth could be a multicultural ecumenopolis, the result of the freedom fleet getting stranded and making due on Earth. Maybe Rannoch is now a technological Utopia, with the Quarian's descendants living in peace with the geth who have integrated into the cities. And just for giggles, the Yagh are the new Hanar, becoming excessively polite after having founded their own Enkindlers type of religion based on the remains of the slaughtered first contact team. Add a rush for some mcguffin and you suddenly have a galactic conflict that only YOU as Lieutenant Smith can solve, and you've got a game! Or, you know, make it an MMO and either win the eternal love or burning hatred of fans, could go either way.

Everyone we knew of, cared about or thought was interesting in or about the universe is dead.

So it doesn't really matter. They can do whatever they want.

Providing they change the ending I'd very much like to have a continuation of Shepard's story in ME4. I don't believe Shepard's story is over.

Agreed, assuming Sheperd survives ME3 (i.e its indoc theory or some other reason) i'd love to see more from the characters we've grown to love.

I don't think they will make one. I mean they found out a way to completely bone the Mass Effect universe with the ending to 3.

Nobody will purchase a prequel to Mass Effect 1 because we all know how it ends, and there won't be anything coming after.

If they at least allowed the galaxy to live on after Shepard then maybe a prequel based on an event we already know will sell decently well, but not anymore.

They probably have a new game they're working on.

Yeah, I mean take Halo for example. Bungie kept reiterating that Masterchief's story was going to be a trilogy, but it didn't stop 343i from making a whole new "reclaimer" trilogy with different enemies.

The people on the Normandy form two units, a warrior unit, and a settler unit. With these units they found a new settlement on the mystery planet. During this game you then research new technology as you found new cities and build "wonders." It'll be called Mass Civilization Effect.

Mass Effect 4 probably won't even be called "Mass Effect 4" since the endings make another game on the original timeline impossible. The endings aren't going to be remade either, only 'clarified'. So Joker doing his thing on another planet is canon. This leaves two options:

1) A prequel.
The question then becomes, would anyone actually play it knowing how the galaxy ends up?

or

2) Some time in the future when society and technology has recovered enough to the point it can support a galactic civilization again.

Either way Shepard's story is over, as is everyone else's. Since she can live for a millennium, Liara could in theory have a cameo, but its likely she wouldn't be a main character in any future setting. Again, the question becomes would anyone be willing to play a new game carrying the Mass Effect title when the slate has been wiped clean and all the characters you've grown attached to are now gone?

An MMO seems out of the question. It would take years of development and many millions poured into creating a new game engine for such a thing to even be feasible. Under these conditions, and given that SWTOR just came out, it seems fairly unlikely a ME MMO would be on the horizon. Maybe in five years...

THIS WILL BE THE SCROLL DOWN TEXT AT START:

So we heard you like synthetics... and we wanted you to know that we sent a synthetic army at you so the synthetics couldn't kill you.

The end.

I *might* consider buying a Mass Effect 4 if it were made, but only if BioWare fixes this ending and doesn't make ME4 a prequel.

I just... yeah. I don't think I'd enjoy a prequel. It'd most likely mean we'd be at war with the Turians, and I don't want to fight them.

I thInk we're looking at a Mass Effect MMO, set on a ruined Earth with the survivors of the various fleets marooned there, struggling to survive. Will you cooperate, or form factions and fight for resources? "Your choice shape the game!"

Oh, I hope not.  I really, really don't want an MMO.

Prequels don't do anything for me.

I really have no idea what direction they would go in for a ME4.  I need ME3 closure before I can even begin to wrap my head around it.

Mass Effect 4: The Adventures of the Stargazer and his Grandson

Besides wanting a Blasto game, I think it should probably die here. With the genophage cured, the geth and quarians living in harmony, the reapers potentially destroyed, and Tali's face revealed, what else is there really left to do in the galaxy? Maybe getting the Volus on the Council finally.

In Mass Effect 4 just needs to be different, is all. Don't have another Alliance soldier story, is all I ask. Add some variety.

Finish Mass Effect 3.

Then after the reapers are beaten (which is the only way ME 4 can happen). A new hero is born, in MORPG format. Were we can battle each other in space ships and boarding parties. The council vs the terminus systems and the krogan vs everyone- because they like it. The first MMORPG that allows players to build their own ships with crew and blow the hell out of each other that doesn't suck - since BioWare likes to make things go BOOM rather than make a story. Oh and a fully playable citadel where one player if they are cunning enough can close the arms- making every NPC try to kill them but still it would be fun. With reapers appearing in missions that players form fleets to go kill. The most important thing of all though.

FINISH MASS EFFECT 3 FIRST!
