I like to talk to my companions at multiple points throughout the game. Knowing that there are a limited amount of conversation options available, I like to choose to space them out over time, only choosing 1 option each time I talk to them. This seemed to work fine in ME1 and ME2 with most characters, so I tried the same thing in ME3. Now, however, I can't initiate any conversations that bring up the dialogue wheel and the conversation options I waited on. I've done several missions since then, both Priority and Galaxy at War missions, but nothing has changed. This has happened with James Vega, Liara, and Garrus (my LI).
Did anyone else have this problem? Is it a glitch, or am I forced to go through all conversation options immediately from the start and have no real interaction with my companions after that, like in DA2 (which, BioWare, in case you were wondering, was a horrible decision regarding companions).
I would like to have those conversations, but I don't want to redo 12 hours of gameplay just to get them if I don't have to. If anyone can let me know either way, I'd appreciate it.

That's normal. Mass Effect 3 unfortunately doesn't have many interactive conversations with your companions. They talk to each other (which is funny and a great feature) and they will usually have 2-3 comments after a mission, but you can't reply. Or Shepard says something automatically without you doing anything. Like Zaeed and Kasumi in ME2, but maybe a bit more detailed.
Vega is a good example. There is some good stuff at the beginning of the game, but after a couple of those conversations he only has comments. Some characters and your LI have dialogues at certain key points in the story, but unlike ME2 not necessarily after every main mission

As Serenity says. There is generally less dialouge wheel dialouges and more autodialouge ann press for short comment talk in ME3. As well as dialouge wheel having fewer options.
