we all wanted a happy ending, and a Reapers win ending....but we only got this "you win but the galaxy is screwed" ending

I was actually going to be disappointed if my Paragon Shep did not have a chance to sacrifice himself toward the end.

Had I any idea that meant Shep doing his best J.C. Denton impersonation and turning into space Jesus....I would have went with the happy bunny ending :/

Yea I would of liked a happy ending for my shepard. Already have enough games where the ending is depressing

After all the promises the characters made eachother, yeah I wanted one too.

All I would really need changed is my friends and LI not ditching my ass and getting stranded on another planet.   Bonus points for showing them finding Shepard in the rubble at the end.  That alone would give foundation for thinking they got to be together in the end, even if the galaxy is in a dark age.

Le sigh...

Man, when I first started playing I was so going for a tragic ending, 'cause I'm a sucker for tragedies, and I thought there was going to be an awesome tragic ending scene like in DA: O. After I had finished with Sanctuary, in my head I was like "Forget death, Shepard's going to get some time on a beach if I have anything to say about it." I was devastated when that wasn't even a hint of an option.

I was fine with the idea of my Shepard dying when I began playing the game. I'd pretty much figured that would happen since I finished playing ME2. But the more I played of ME3, the more I ended up really wanting to see Shepard live. All of the squaddies are so awesome, and you do so much good for the galaxy, there's just so much to live for. By the time I got to the endgame, I was completely convinced that I wanted Shepard to live. Nobody deserves a happy ending more than Shepard.

There's no real reason for anyone to go through the game perfectly if you can't even help Tali build her home.

I actually don't mind my Shep dying, but, wanted it to be worth something. Like, he took down all the Reapers, planetwide celebrations ensue on homeworlds, you see your crew happy and they owe it all to you. Where was that???

To be honest, I was ready for my Shep to die regardless, but I was hoping for some kind of scene with Liara and your daughter. Or your daughter asking "Uncle Garrus" what her father was like...

Those would count as "happy" bittersweet endings for me

Remember what Casey said, it's "inspirational and uplifting!"

Yup, he said that. And had I been in the room I would have responded with "Yes, in the same way that Ishtar is one of the best movies of all time."

This. THis. THIs. THIS.

In DA:O I loved being able to choose between sacrificing myself and not doing so. On more "virtuous" characters I could take the sacrifice option, while on my power hungry Blood Mage I took the Deal with the Devil with Morrigan to live.

In ME I needed my Shep to live. He worked his ass off for the galaxy, and I got really attached to his relationship with Liara and his friendships with Wrex and Tali and Garrus.

Then... well, we all know how this story ended. :crying:

you know how a happy ending could work? if you resolved the geth-quarian conflict with peace you could deny starchilds logic by showing him how the geth and the quarians together are fighting for survival and that the only chaos here is HIM and the Reapers, starchild realizes this and ends this cycle returning the Reapers to darkspace and thus ending the war without destroying the relays nor crashing the Normandy in Jurassic Park. if your EMS was lower than 3500 Shepard dies and gets a Noble funeral for our fallen hero, if EMS was 3500 or higher Shepard can wake up in a hospital and ask Hackett a few things about how it ended, Shepard's LI enters and plan the future (blue babies with Liara, beach with Garrus, giving Tali a home, etc)
was this really hard?

Yes i agree with the OP and above (Grasich). Im in the camp of simply "more endings". I appreciate what we got but would love a few more alternates. Please.

I'm just surprised that there wasn't some kind of ridiculous way to get a happy ending for ME3.

I dunno, get a perfect clear either full renegade or paragon through all three games, getting every quest ever, and thus the maximum possible war assets. Then, and only then, a 4th option would appear.

Not to mention that there were several other ways to impart the theme of sacrifice in this game without it having to be shepard. Why couldn't Anderson live long enough to shoot Shep in the leg and sacrifice himself? Or better yet, have someone like Javik or Ashley/Kaiden? (so long as they weren't LI's and if they are, have it be Garrus, Liara or Tali)

This wouldn't be perfect. However, it would certainly be an improvement.
