The option to get a happy ending would have been nice. That and I feel like I accomplished something when I get one. or something similar.

I want an happy because I think my Shepard really deserves it. I did everything to prove that organics and synthetics can coexist etc.

So, to recap:

Some people want the endings tweaked and clarified.
Some people want to simply add different endings, including happy endings, to the current ones.
Some people want the current endings removed entirely and replaced with something different.

Quite the pickle BioWare's in. Which fan subset will they choose to upset?

Yes. I want to be able to get a "happy" ending. Though with all the burning planets and dead friends including one that died by my hand it couldn't really be called happy even if I am settling down with Liara to make little blue children while we rebuild worlds.

That's bittersweet, not the apocalyptic destruction of galactic civilisation (or population according to Arrival)

I'm also fine with getting an outcome where the reapers win if you do badly enough and many other outcomes between the two

I was hoping for a happy ending, but wouldn't have minded a sad one or better yet a happy one with some touches of sad, that said I thought loosing Anderson was all the sad we were gonna get, I was wrong.

Sacrifice is only powerful if there was the option to escape.

So yes, I want the options.

A very good point as well. Not really too impressed by forced sacrifice.

I don't get it. Why would you sacrifice yourself if you had the option to escape?

Have you played DA:O? It really shows how well OPTIONAL sacrifice can work in a game.

~~~mild DA:O spoilers
Basically either you let someone else die for you, you make a "deal with the devil", or you die.
~~~ end of spoilers

I wanted a happy ending yes. But what made the game up to the ending so great in my opinion was that i didn't know if what i did was enough to get me that happy ending.

Which is exactly why I loved the Collector Base. I went in almost sure I could come out with everyone alive, but I picked the wrong people for certain jobs, and Thane and Legion went down. Definite FFFFFFFFFFFFF moments there, gut-punches, but the good kind, because man I was the commander, the captain of my ship, and I let my dudes down. When I went through again and everyone survived....goddamn the satisfaction.

None of that was what happened in this game.

Sorry, didn't read your post. I haven't finished DAO. I'll take your word for it.

The chance of a "happy" ending, heck yeah. As happy as it can be, seeing what is already lost...

I want to be a hero not... ah, never mind. Just the chance of a happy ending, please?

This, SO MUCH. My first run through the collector base I let Tali die(Let Jacob hold the barrier against the swarms :pinched:). I just kind of sat there in horrified shock for a few minutes before reloading and trying again.

I want a happy ending like ME1 and ME2. There's enough depression already. Why am I not allowed to be happy even in the fictional world anymore :(

Well, I'm not so sure about the happy ending but I wanted an ending that provided closure, that was satisfying, that made me feel like the hero. Mass Effect 3's ending did not provide that.

Some people could of simply not bought the game and read the front page of a newspaper.

There should be a happy ending included yes. Based on your gameplay and choices the happy ending should be a result of that path.

This

They can make all the "Sacrifice" endings they want, as long we get a happy ending to go with it!

Just going to add my voice. I wanted a happy ending. In the making of Star Wars the execs tried and tried to get George Lucas to kill of a main character and he didn't. Makes it all the more enjoyable when we watch it. And let me clarify, that does not mean that is the only ending that should be available. This is a game, not a movie.

I wanted the option of a happy ending to be there. I would completely understand if it was very difficult to attain, and it required certain decisions to be made throughout the whole series to even have it be available in the third game, but I still wanted the option to be there. The actual endings are not really that happy or sad at all, they're just depressing to me in real life because I invested so much money, time, and dedication to this series, with the expectation things would actually be resolved for the characters and galaxy I was immersed in, only to be shot down for my childish stupidity.

You can tweak and clarify the current endings while adding new ones, and group 3 will turn out to like group 2's solution because it works out to be the same for them. This isn't that hard if you think about it.

Hope, passion, love, sacrifice, fighting against all odds - that's Shepard's story and that movie shows it

The possibility to finish the journey alive, reunited with companions and LI's was what I was hoping for since the beginning.

This is all I ask, just one 1 ending out of 16 promised :crying:

Not only do we not have 1 option for a happy ending, we have only 3 endings that ends horribly wrong. The people who came up with only these endings must be having a hard time in life if they find them to be bittersweet.

If anyone here is an anime geek and watched the end episode for Clannad after story, think about how sad you would be if the series ended before the final episode. That is how I feel Mass Effect 3 ended.

It's probably not too hard to please them all.

First option can be done by a simple patch to add tweaks, those people then don't need to download the alternate endings DLC.

There's a lot more overlap with the second and third. While my preferred choice would be keep everything up to and including the death of Anderson and then provide a range of outcomes based on choices & EMS I'd also be happy with indoctrination theory and a completely new citadel experience if it gives a similar range of ending choices or even just changing things to give me a chance to paragon/renegade talk the catalyst into a fourth choice.

If Bioware could pull off a happy ending without cheapening the scale of the conflict or the message of the story, I'd love that. (Unfortunately, as it stands, we have a bunch of variants on unhappy ending that also cheapens the scale of the conflict and the message of the story.)
