Anyone have any favorite Tactics they find useful for their character or any companions?
I'm having a hard time learning to use them well. I've disabled most Tactics for my companions, as I haven't yet figured a way to get them to save their abilities when they'd be wasted: there's no need to use a quick stun on an enemy who is already disabled, for instance, or immune (from Force Field or anything else).
So I'm left with just a few:
- Mind Blast for mages surrounded by two or more enemies
- the initial Heal settings for Wynne
- Crippling on an opening shot by Lelianna
Any other good settings you've found?

I always set up my warriors to shield bash/pommel strike enemies that are attacking my mages or archers. I've only played through the game once on Normal though
I found tactics important for warriors to get them to activate sustainables/come to the rescue of my squishier characters with me paying much attention to them. With everyone else I just set them to attack whichever enemy the main character was attacking.

(For very hard fights)
Self : Health < 75% : Use health poultice least powerful
That will keep everyone alive very effectivley in an insane fight , I did the final boss w/o anyone dying once just earlier today using that tactic for the whole party , but aside from insane fights just turn that 75% down to 50% or 25%
Also have mages do MP < 25% : Use lyrium pot least powerful (So they never turn into useless sacks who just sit there and fire staff shots)

That's a good one... didn't even know that status was available.
The one tactic that I couldn't set up was to have revival cast when a party member gets squished. If I could find the right status to refer to, I could spend less time flipping to Wynne in the bigger battles.

On hard difficulty, like the above post, Self : Health < 75% : Use health poultice least powerful really helps.
Oh by the way, ranged combat is sweet, specially on the latter parts of the game. You can pick off enemies that way.

It takes up a extra slot but I like changing up my healers tactic a bit from normal I forget the exact names and such but here's the basic I use then other stuff depending on character.
1 - self health < 50% : use health poultice least
2 - self mana/stamina < 25% : use lyrium potion least
3 - ally health lowest : jump to tactic 4
4 - ally health < 50% : use ability heal
5 - party member Allister health < 75% : use ability regenerate
I usually add one for all non mage's to use health potion least whenever they go below 10% hp just in-case something happens with the healer I added the ally health lowest and jump in recently because sometimes my healer seemed to just keep healing Allister and let others die it seems to help. I usually also set a mind blast to go off when the healer is attacked by melee and for the last tactic on healer I tend to set it to attack Allister or whoever the tanks target is if I have extra slots for it.
