They probably hope they can keep it /intend to, for present.
It won't work, of course. Eventually they'll realize that.

If you see the "Bioware" tag below a thread title, it means a Bioware developer posted in the thread.
Click on the Bioware tag, and it will show the original post as well as all posts in the thread made by Bioware developers.
That will give you your answer MUCH faster.

Ahem, I would like the People and monsters to be more real like in DA3.

By the way, you don't have to go through a ton of pages in a thread to see if a developer commented on something specific.

Oh, thanks so much! Though I do feel more than a little silly now

Can we discuss our preferences in Art in this thread?

Are we talking about them having a more life-like appearance (which I'd classify as being closer to Origins' style)? If so, agreed.

Preferably beyond Origins style in being life like but I don't know if the technology is ready for that.

DA2 had an art style?
A horrible one, in my opinion.
Its only saving graces being Flemeth and the qunari, everything else being below what I thought was acceptable.
I'd head back in DAO's direction as far as art style is concerned.

You are very welcome. And do not feel silly.
You started a thread that I personally hope gets a lot of attention and traction.
I despised DA2's art style, so I hope some wonderful Bioware developers will address any pre-development intent they have going forward as far as art is concerned.

They also need to work on making the environment look more lived in. Origins was packed with details everywhere and houses looked like people actually lived there. DA2 got rid of these details, claiming people didn't care about them, and despite people walking around Kirkwall, I just don't buy that anyone actually lives there.

I agree. I would also like a return to Origins art style which was dark and grittier than DA2 which felt clean and bland in comparison.

Agreed entirely.

Yup. I actually agree with most of the re-designs (though there should be more variation in body shape, eg. fat, toned, thin etc.) Flemeth looked good, but she would have looked even better if she had been rendered more realistically, without the overly smooth, manga-like portraylas of DAII. For me, art style is much more than how a game looks. It can shape the tone of the story, and this (for me at least) was particularly true for DAII. Scenes which should have been tragic (the conclusion of All That Remains for example) were instead cliched and evoked no emotion, in no small part due to the cartoonishness of the visuals. Everything was too bright, too clean, too lollipops and sunshine.

Agreed once again. "Gritty" is exactly what DA should be like. The point you make regarding the contrasts between enviroments is a good one. For example, the alienage in Orgins was clearly a hive of pestilence, poverty and filth. You only had to look at it to see this. However, the DAII alienage was probably the cleanest part of Lowtown, despite claims it was worse than in Denerim. And don't get me started on the lego-like foliage and hair...

I like Realist art. I'd like to see DA3 move back toward Realist.

I downloaded a mod (can't remember which now, I have so many...) which basically grimed the place up and suddenly the game was really transformed: the stylisation came together much better. Hightown was leafy, Lowtown dirty, and so on.
I would like to see the elves fixed a bit, and maybe the combat animations toned down (not to DA:O levels, a happy medium please!), but I did like playing something which made no attempt to hide that the concept art was kept as drawn. Too many photo-realistic games these days!

Yeah, agreed.
DA2 felt too "alpha build" as far as aesthetics went.
And they mucked up elves when they were just fine beforehand(my opinion).
