Could you tell us more about the process of making music for ME3, if you have any info on that? Specifically, how was it working with Clint Mansell? Did you have to teach him how games work differently than movies?

Mansell wriote two tracks and they were in cinematics. I doubt this process would have been much different from video game composing.

Yeah, but still, I remember there being a short interviwe with him when they announced he was working on the score and he was saying how it is so much different than making music for movies and how he has to adapt to it.

The sound, music, art direction and the majority of the writing was phenomenal imo, but the biggest improvements were definitely in the sound department. The Reaper and weapon sounds in particular were astonishingly good.

I loved the music and sound effects in this game. I was particularly impressed with all the sounds related to guns. Each weapon seemed to have a totally different "click" sound for reloading, and the various gunfire sounds were really satisfying, and even the noises for the various powers. I really loved the new shockwave noise for some reason!

And the various noises the enemies made, particularly Reaper forces. All the weird gurgling organic noises and the robotic synthetic noises (particularly the Marauders, Cannibals and Banshees had great sound effects). And even just the "thunk" noise when you hit someone in melee is great, sounds very heavy and impacting.

I think overall there seems to be a greater range of sounds and noises compared to previous games. It just boggles my mind about how they even made some of these noises, like the Cannibals' vocal noises and even just the noise of bullets hitting Shepard.

I can't play the game after the you know...but I've been listening to the soundtrack everyday so far. Listened to the First Mass Effect soundtrack then the third...wow they have really improved. The first was good but the third is beautiful.

It's possible he wrote a couple of combat pieces that were not used.

Which is why I asked my question. We don't know what he actually did apart from those 2 tracks that were used for the cutscenes. I'm interested in his work and what his thought on working on a game are

Yeah great job Rob Blake and co. The sounds in the game make it easily the best in the series. Sublime work.

I absolutely LOVE the Reaper sounds. I've been working on recreating that sound in FL Studio. I've gotten pretty close to it being near perfect.

No complaints with the audio on my part, loved it all. Especially all the Reaper sounds. Hearing them coming was just as imposing as seeing them.

The sound is top notch.

I use a Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard --> Little Dot MK III headphone amplifier (tube amp) --> Sennheiser HD650 headphones when I am playing on PC. Its nice to have a game that can take advantage and scale with better equipment as you upgrade.

The sound is like AAA hollywood production sound. Please continue to use full dynamic range in future games.

Given all the rightful hate towards the endings, there are some things I haven't seen brought up at all.  One of them being sound.

Personally I found the sound in game - particular the guns and combat - to be by far the best in the series.  Im not sure why but it really stood out to me through the entire experience.

Wondering if anyone else really noticed it when they were playing.

I agree that the weapon sounds were simply awesome when i fired the sniper rifle it
was a instant grin on my face.. same go's for other weapons.

Overall i think the sounds in game are well done , altough i did not get sucked into
some of the cutscenes and mission as much as when i was playing me 2 i think that all
fitted more together , that said sounds is good no big complaints.

Sound was very well done across the board. ME3 had the best sfx by a good margin.

As music goes I'm on the fence. I think each of the three games had some good tracks.

The sound in Mass Effect 3 was definitely breath taking.

There are things like the Banshee wails or the Reaper "horns" that will stick in the mind for a long time, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

I hope to see (or hear!) more of it in future games.

The audio in general was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The music, ambiance, weapon effects etc, it was all very well crafted and executed.

I thought the music and sound were both great.

I play as an engineer and the sound of enemies exploding into icy shards from a cryo blast/incenerate combo was very loud and incredibly satisfying. Lol.

The reaper noises were amazing as well.

The music was fantastic too - the new stuff was beautiful and I loved the reuse of certain themes (vigil and the overlord combat theme, in particular). I really wish the combat theme during the citadel coup was on the soundtrack. There is a track that sounds similar, but not exactly how it is in game. Also "a future of the krogan" is something I can listen to on repeat and not get sick of.

In fact, I know it's unlikely, but have you ever thought of releasing a more comprehensive soundtrack? All the tracks from the collectors edition OST and the remixes of ME1 and 2. Possibly some tracks labeled "Reaper sounds", "Husk sounds", "Gun sounds" etc.

I am disappointed in the lack of choice in ME3 but I would so buy that.

Didnt notice. Too busy with being depressed after seeing the ending.
