Yeah the sound scape was expertly done. Definitely noticed some tricks from DICE and BF3 in the depth and dynamic range. I really liked that they even offered a dynamic range option on the sound compression ratio. Props for that!

Also thought the sounds was great (and I enjoyed the voice acting too!). Someone did a good job there!

Well, there's just that one problem with Reave in multiplayer :)

The sound/music was probably the best done thing in the game. The reapers kind of had a surreal feeling when you were dealing with them. It wasn't a wall of noise overwhelming you, but it was powerful as is.

As for the volume being quiet. Yes, this is the case and was a deliberate decision. It's hard to explain without drawing diagrams and playing examples.. but basically most games are loud because they compress and crush the sound to make it really loud. This actually has a negative effect on the audio quality, but when compared side-to-side with a quieter sound people will prefer the loud one. This is why television adverts are always really loud, same for music. As people tend to not play games side to side, I thought it would be safe to make the audio of higher quality without heavy compression and for people to turn the sound up. For more reading, look up 'loudness wars' :)

My room mate is getting his Masters in audio forensics and he is always complaining about this. It is funny that most people prefer CD and MP3 formats even though they have worse sound quality! I personally feel like I am missing the frequency ranges that get cropped out in the process, but I am probably over estimating how sensitive my ear is.

Good work on the audio, the effects and the music were both great.

I just want to add my voice here. I thought the sound in the game (as well as the OST) was fantastic. In fact, while I throw a lot of criticism at these forums these days, I do think the whole game was brilliant (up to a point of course). But the sound and music especially was great. The music IMO is what really makes these emotional scenes impact on me. Thanks for a wonderful job on that one BW.

I will give them credit where its due. The sounds and the music were quite endulging. It blend with gameplay and moments nicely. The weapon sound effects, atmosphere and so on...all around a great work.

And the only good thing about current ending was the soundtrack background.....

Really enjoyed the beefy gun sounds coming out of my 7.1 home cinema, as well as the various other sound effects (reaper foghorn blast is especially awesome).

Only slight issue I had: For some reason, the news report stuff was really low for me.
