first of all, i know that felon's coat is the best rogue armor, but since i can only get that after completing two treaty quests, what should i wear in the meantime?
i am currently wearing chasind robes
i want to be a cun dagger rogue, though right now my dex is highest because i needed it for momentum
also, my pc does a whole lot of damage, but i haven't gotten to wynne yet and i health poultices seem to really fail
should i do the mages tower first to get wynne's healing?
finally for the Crime Wave quest is there any reason to do it?
he tells me locations of money or something but i can rob the places without him telling me about them right?
what is the point of his quests?
also at some point he mentioned something about stealing and i said that i didn't pickpocket
does this mean that if i put a point in stealing i will gain access to additional quests
Rogue Armor, Rogue Health, and Crime Wave quest questions

Your targets for the Crime Wave quests don't unlock/spawn until you pay Slim the money. So pay the man and do the jobs already, what are you waiting for?

Shadow of the Empire is a pretty cool armor piece for a rogue. sells for 20g from one of the merchants in Orzamar commons.
an even cheaper (and less good) option is just Dalish Leather Armor (it has +1 dex) which you can buy from Varathorn the smith at the Brecilian Outskirts.
my recommendation is that you will need at least one good source of healing as soon as possible. wynne is the best available, but morrigan can be made to do it as well. alternatively you can train one of your characters in herbalism and start manufacturing lots of health poultices. i'd go with wynne. its a good idea to do the mage tower quest first anyway so you can get the attribute bonuses from Lost in the Fade. those are very helpful to rogues in particular because there are so many dex and cunning bonuses.

Get the whole Dalish Armor Set (chest, gloves, boots) over at the Dalish Elf camp. Not only it gives you +DEX, but wearing the whole set gives you another +5 defense. It's a steal since you can buy the entire set for like what, around 5g? Probably the only thing that surpasses it for bang for the buck effeciency is Final Reason for mages, and even then only if you have CE.
Heck, I STILL use it on my dodge tank since I didn't get Felon's Coat.

Generally what you pay out for the crime wave to slim nets you twice what you paid him back. So you end up making money. You are just paying for the intel.
