If nothing else, can you please fix your journal/mission log? It's like 3 steps back.

Mass Effect 1 had a more intuitive and accurate system for tracking mission progress and information. This would be a simple patch job compared to the other complaints, so please release it in some future update.

Na man, that's cost too much now excuse Bioware as they waste money hiring Chobot.

I guess Bioware thought since they super simplified the planet scanning that they didn't need an updated log?

Although I bet I still missed a crap ton, so I'm thankful someone posted this.

Although by the third game, do I really need to be referencing JPEGs to know what areas I've been to?

The only part of the journal system I like is the DRAMATIC READINGS of the races. DAT VOICE. But that was in ME2.

I agree. Why couldn't that guy to the Books on Tape for the ME novels?

So fitting.

I agree, not only is it a mess with you having no idea if you completed the mission yet, but every time you go to the journal for some reason the cursor is almost at the bottom of the greyed out completed missions. I was so annoyed when I'd keep going to the journal to try to find what system the artifact I was going after was supposed to be, and I'd have to scroll through dozens of old quests. It's just annoying, and lazy on Bioware's part.

Yeah, that is another really annoying feature that seems like it would take a single script to fix.

Also the journal doesn't always say where you have to go to get stuff from planets. The elcour rescue mission took way longer than it should have because the journal didn't mention what system they were in--only the planet....le sigh.

And if you do figure out where to go you realise you've already been there for something else so scanning is useless. You go online only to find out it's all been a waste of time as the game considers the quest done because of the dodad you picked up ages ago.

That was a really amazing experience. I got the quest from the elcor, then couldn't find the system with the planet at all because of lack of information. Went online, found the planet, but there was just nothing there. Pondered a while, went back online, found out I already picked up the asset that was behind the quest. Returned to the citadel to finish the quest, knowing that I'd only had to have clicked on the elcor a second time from the beginning. Epic!

Huh? If it's completed it's greyed out, right?

We could use something that keeps track of what artifacts we've picked up, yeah. I can remember them no problem, but I can see how some players might not be able to.

I wish I had your memory. I get swarmed with sidequests when I step onto the citadel, so I go out to do them... Only not all of them can be completed at the same time, so I do main quests and n7 missions, then I forget which ones I already have... Then I do that song and dance of looking for the planets, then I realize I did most of them, then I turn them in... Only to get more annoying fetch quests, rinse and repeat.

Thank god for gibbed, edit one war asset so I never have to do those fetch quests again. Of course that makes me realize just how short the game is, and how the fetch quests seem to be designed to arbitrarily pad gametime.

For everything ME does right, there are so many issues.

In case of the elcor quest I actually made the mistake to expect some kind of actual "rescue mission", not to pick up numbers by clicking on a planet. But even I knew I was just looking for assets it's not to much to ask for a system to keep track of them. As mentioned, not everyone is blessed with such a fantastic memory.

they wont bother fixing that, the cost is too big to make it somehow useful now. But you can write your journal on paper lol.

First playthrough I inadvertantly saves all my citadel quests until the last moment, after I had scanned every system to 100%. Went back to the Citadel, talked to everyone twice and finished my citadel missions. Took a 30 hour playthrough and reduced it to 23 hours, yay accidental efficiency.

With the lack of an inventory system, or anything similar to, having a fully functional journal system is a no brainer.

LOL you guys think there's even a chance they'll go back and fix THIS? Guys, this is Bioware we're talking about here. They though it was acceptable to make your War Assets nothing but numbers next to a picture (usually from ME2). They used a stock photo from a google search for Tali's face! There is absolutely zero chance they would be willing to put any work at all into fixing something like this. This isn't CDProjekt.

I don't think it's so much that my memory is so awesome. I'm just not approaching the sidequests the way you are.

I get swarmed with sidequests, same as you. But unless the quest mentions the planet where I'm supposed to go, I don't worry about it. And if it does mention the planet the galaxy map will highlight, right?  (There may be a couple of exceptions; Irune, maybe?) So I get the stuff to complete most of the sidequests in passing.

And when you have an item to complete a Citadel sidequest, the Citadel map shows that there's someone you need to talk to. So when Normandy docks at the Citadel and I know I've got some stuff that someone wants, all I need to do is look at the map.

How about the map while they're at it too?  I've yet to play ME3 because I can't import my Shepard, but I have seen pictures.  The map from 1 was fine, then they changed it in 2, removing the ability to set a waypoint and showing all levels on one map, making it very confusing. Now there's 3...
I don't get it, why to they keep "fixing" things that aren't broken, taking major steps backwards with each game?

Yeah, that's true. I honestly never even hit the m key, 'cause I was like 'what's the point?' The levels were, aside from the Citadel and other hubs, very linear and hand holdy.

Really the ME2 journal was light years better but the simple fix is to set the focus to the top of the list. I hate being dropped mid-list into all my completed quests.

I was getting thrown into the codex all the time, another notheworthy thing to fix.
If there's a new entry in the codex that I want to read, I can go there manually. Stop forcing the codex on me when I want to check my quests.
