Line-count budgets?  Are there price rates per line a character gets in a game?  I always just presumed a contract was signed and a flat fee was agreed upon or something as straight forward as that.  I really don't know now.  I would like to know how this works.  Anyone got an explanation?


maybe it explains all the lack of dialogue.

Several different ways, depending on resources and the project.  Could be limited lines for the entire project, no matter who gets them, thus forcing things to get cut.  Could be limited data to be used for extraneous projects, and, since Kelly has to both survive the suicide mission and have been invited to your cabin to show up, have been deemed not worth expending the extra disc-space/dialogue on.

Generally VA contracts are signed on a per-project basis, but they are rarely a flat fee, as project scope and size tends to be flexible.

Ok.  The first paragraph I didn't even consider, but yeah.  That has practicality written all over it.  The second.  I did not know that.  Thank you for clearing that up.

What humours me the most is that the entire time its using a resource (that squeak the space hamster makes -- I think it might be one of the people that worked on it) from the original Baldur's Gate or Baldur's Gate II game -- I forget which... I don't have either installed at the moment.

Makes me chuckle warmly each time I hear it.

I found him wandering around the subdeck stairwell. Hard to catch. I have a theory that Mess Sergeant Gardner went up to Shepard's cabin after the suicide mission and found him there. He took him back to the kitchen to make a little hamster gumbo and the hamster got away from him.

Is such a thing as a "line-count budget" a side effect of voice acting in RPGs or was it always there in games like Baldur's Gate and NWN?

Talking of Minsc and Boo, did you ever notice what Tali says when she summons a combat drone "Go for the ocular...." something or other, but its just a technological variation of "Go for the eyes Boo, the eyes!!"

I thought it was kinda cute.

Yep, I found him pretty early on while hunting for the rest of my model ships. I went downstairs in the engineering section and noticed something running around on the ground. i thought I was imagining it, then I waited and looked more closely. It was an entertaining surprise. *pats Boo gently* It's too bad that Kelly's line didn't make it into the game.

It took me fifteen minutes to catch the little SOB given its tendency to sneak up behind you, squeak and run away.

Since the Normandy was handed over to the Alliance i was expecting different colors
off course , but the changes on the inside are worthless , War Room ?
lol yeah here i can see the war assets that have no use at all , and talk to hacket
i liked the big screen in my private cabin better anyways , youve made a mess of
the Normandy.. URRGH !

I didn't mean DLC that would only add cut dialogue. And some DLC is free.
