The dwarves rol diminished in DA2. There's information about a thaig called Kal Sharok but this hasn't been explored/gotten into yet. Will the dwarves have more input on the story of DA3?
And there are stil Sandal and Bodahn who left Kirkwall.

I really love the dwarves but are they that popular from a statistical point of view? They aren't as popular as Main characters but does that carry over generally?

That's what interests me. The dwarves have their fingers in a lot of things that's going on in Thedas. They supply the lyrium for excample. Which has a big influence on the templart and the mages.

Does a character class or race need to be popular to be included? Seems to me that if their role is integral to the storyline, even in an ambient sense, they should be part of it.

@OP - I think the dwarves will continue to play a significant role. With the connection to the Deep Roads/darkspawn/Old Gods, the thaigs, questions about lyrium, etc, there is plenty of dwarf-related material to work with. It's likely we'll see more characters from that noble people.

Their role should be to be wiped out in the great flood that fills up the deep roads, and good riddance.

That's a harsh statement Filament. Please explain why.

As whykikyouwhy noted, I like to think that at the very least their control of the lyrium trade would give the dwarves a significant position in the mage/templar conflict. I would love to see their role increased, and just to see more of them period, especially the female dwarves. Going to Kal Sharok or exploring more of the thaigs would be excellent. Furthermore, the Blight never really ends for the dwarves...I'd like to see more of that as well. I hope they'll have a very large part in the events of DA3.

The Dwarves should have a prominent role in DA3. I could actually give a long list of reasons why they should be included.

Suffice to say, they are important to the Mage-Templar War and they do need to be included.

I suspect since a cataclysm that drove them underground and cut them off from magic they've been edging closer and closer to extinction. I just think it's time, for the drams. And TEWR's tears.

Lyrium provider and potential soldiers.
Assuming we're going into the Mage / Templar War, negotiating them into your faction's side would be a great boon. Provide the druggies their next fix or provide the mages with an easier way to cast uber spells. Magic resistance helps.

The reason why they are getting closer to extinction is that they are fighting the darkspawn 24/7.
They prevent darkspawn to venture above grounds when there's not a blight going on.
And sorry do not know what TEWR means so cann't reply to that.

i want a large role for the dwarves.

my favorite character in the series were Varic and Oghren........both dwarves.

also my my perfect file character in origins is a dwarf (despite what my user portrait leads you to believe)

Dwarves make the best bros.

Retcon Alistair into a dwarf and DA:O is suddenly even better.

Pretty good idea to have someone that is not a Mage or might not be Templar/Seeker to be a protagonist. Maybe a dwarf that is big in the lyrium trade who will at some point turn the tide of the Mage/Templar war.

Allmost a mind reader ev76, but I doubt a dwarve will be the protagonist. I think Bioware goes for a human. Purely for the fact that most people can relate to that.
I think the protagonist is allready fixed.

Male Kossith protag (can be Qunari or Tal-Vashoth), voiced by Peter Mensah.

I'd be fine with the dwarves coming back (along with the kossith), but please bring both genders!

Your probably right on that one sjpelkessjpeler, if that's the case then hopefully we still get a dwarven companion.

Oghren was someone I took along everywhere in my first playthrough after I met him. He was just so money. I remember getting him as soon as I possibly could in my second playthrough, he was too priceless. As for Mr. Blum voicing the dwarf I would be all for it. Even if it was the companion dwarf. If female it would have to be Jennifer Hale, she has a commanding voice as well.

that thought enrages me.

why remove the option for multiple playable races?

the original had it, why not this one (you have no idea how angry i was with the removal of other playable races in DA2, my biggest issue with that game believe it or not).

you see, i have a very strange thinking when it comes to humans, if there are other sentient species running around, i instantly lose interest in humans and want to play as them.

why? i'm a human in real life, i know what humans are, and i play as one in most games regardless of genre.

that whole 'relate to it' is irrelevant, its BECAUSE i don't relate to them as easily that i like them MORE. i find them more interesting, i have little to no interest in the humans character.

the exceptions in the ME and DA games where.

A. Jack (cause she was crazy and a biotic, very unique)
B. Morrigan (a witch of the wilds, a wild magi, while i didn't find her AS interesting as jack, she was somewhat different)
and
C. The Chasind as a whole (they might be human, but they have so many differences in many ways i am somewat drawn to them)

this is probably the reason why of the 4 sentient species, i like the idea of a Qunari (Kossith or whatever they are called) protagonist the most, while i do like Dwarves and Elves, Qunari are unique to Dragon Age, a original creation, i know little of them, so i relate to them the least, THUS my interest in them and desire to play as them the most.

but heres the thing, while i may not relate them DUE to their species, i CAN relate to how they act, react, etc.

people CAN relate to non humans, but just because they don't doesn't mean they won't like playing as them.
