Sandal needs to return in my opinion. When you say A you need to say B!

I wonder how Sandal will be (if he returns in DA3 which I really hope) like. His character has developed a great deal in DA2 (allthough I red the feedback which gave explanation from BW regarding him) and his role in Orlesian court has meaning in DA3.

The dwarves rol increased in DA2. There's information about a thaig called Kal Sharok but this hasn't been explored/gotten into yet. Will the dwarves have more input on the story of DA3?
And there are stil Sandal and Bodahn who left Kirkwall.

Erm, didn't the role of dwarves DECREASE in DA2?  You had that whole section in Origins that revolved entirely around the dwarves, after all.

What I'm kind of hoping for is that the various different conflicts in Thedas will gradually start to take shape around one BIG central conflict that contains elements of all the others.  I'm hoping the dwarves will have a major role to play in this.

It's sort of looking like the mage/non-mage conflict will become really central to the game, because it already contains almost all of the conflicts that currently exist--the templars, Qunari, elves, humans, everybody can get involved in this conflict.  So where do the dwarves come in?

Darkspawn.  The connection between mages and darkspawn has been hinted at but not fully explored.  (And neither has the odd fact that alone among the races, dwarves have no mages.  Yet they're creative and emotional, they're just . . . detached from the Fade, perhaps because they are instead connected with The Stone.)  So this is the "role" I see for dwarves in the future of the franchise.

I know, the moment I posted the thread I knew it could be misinterpreted. The role of the dwarves increased in terms of the role of the companion Varric but in whole the role of the dwarves diminished.

The thread contains several pages in which the role of the dwarves in comparison to DAO is talked about.

I want to reply to your last paragraph though: I think that the dwarves maybe have some sort of magic connection. But if you are interested please read the thread :).

If they are revisiting the mages vs templars story in DA3, then it probably won't be big. However, I'd love something in the DA universe focusing on the caste system of the dwarves and how the main character would impact it.

We know that the dwarves have good relations with Tevinter. In an upcoming war between mages and templars their role could grow. They're the lyrium provider for both sides. If Tevinter involves themselves in the war what will the dwarves do?

Well the dwarfs can be connected significantly psychoblonde and worrywart through the one asset both templars and mages need...lyrium. The thread does have good info :)

Yeast rolls would be nice for the dwarves, but then again I think they would be much more likely to enjoy mushroom turnovers, living in the Deep Roads and all.

If as they say dragon age three will be about saving the world from itself, I do not see how Tevinter and the qunari not be involved in this war. Let alone all faction of dwarves. If bhelen is the ruling party of ozommar Who do you think he would side with? what if Harrowmont is ruling?

If there is going to be a civil war a lot of things are possible.
That would all depend on the point if view of Orzammar and the topside dwarves (and Kal Sharok if the writers decide to involve them too).
During the blight Thedas united to defend themselves against a common enemy. In case of a civil war the enemy is not so clear.

Ugh, seriously? DA II is already all about mages versus templars. I'm already getting tired of the conflicts between these two.

More dwarves please.

Female dwarf companion please.

And LI as well, that would be a great first for the series IMO.  For those who chose not to play/romance as a dwarven Warden, I think Varric convinced a lot of people how great such a romance could be.

And let the female dwarf look like a female dwarf, not a smaller version of a female human.

"Creative Director Mike Laidlaw confirmed that the overall plot of Dragon Age III will be "saving the world from itself". It will primarily involve an all-out civil war between mages and templars, the foundations of which comprise the main plot of Dragon Age II." - Wikipedia

Hm, thanks for the info on that.

Still....

Am I the only one who thinks that the conflict between mages and templars to be one of the LEAST interesting things about the DA universe? I won't to know MORE about the DA WORLD, not for the story to continue to dwell on the same tired old thing It feels like between DA:O and DA2 that the subject has been beaten into the ground. The dead horse has been flogged.

If anything is actually resolved in DA III with the two I will be very very surprised.

I hope so too. It is said that the dwarves there had to do some questionable things to survive the blight. Makes me wonder in which direction they've developed.
Really would like to see another thaig that's still being lived in.

Even in a Templar/Mage heavy storyline,  Dwarfs can still have a major role seeing as they control the supply of lyrium :)

The templar vs mage conflict is one of my favorite things about the DA universe. It's something that I haven't seen in other fantasy settings. Considering there hasn't been an all out war between the mages and templars so far in the games, maybe in the lore but I'm not sure, it should bring something new to the table.

I don't think your going to see Kal Sharok, since the game will, in all likely-hood take place in Orlais. (Based on the agonists from the last game along with some concept art for things not seen in the DA universe yet and the books.)

And...since the game will revolve around saving the world from itself...it will probably end with a fixed ending leading into another blight and the credits will roll when the archdemon comes out of the ground.

Kal Sharok lies near Orlais. That's why I think it's quite possible that it will be involved.

And about your second paragraph; maybe DA3 needs a cliffhanger for DA4!

Oh, I didn't know about the first one, thought it was up in Tevinter.

Edit:  Meh, just checked, its between the Anderfells and Orlais, maps of Orlais still have Orzammar as the closest one...since the Frostback Mountains actually appear on a map of Orlais.

Sooooooo curious how they survived and developed there.
