 Hey guys,

This is my first post around here, but I've glanced around a bit. I'm looking to play through the Dragon Age games, but I have only made it through the 6 origin stories (want to see which one fits me better). However, my main focus is going to be for the story. As such, I'd really like to play the "easiest" character possible. I don't want the perfect build, or the most powerful character ever generated, but I would like something that will be fairly low maintenance so that I can concentrate on story and less on fighting boss battles/large skirmishes over and over and over from a quick load.

Any tips would be appreciated - I really can't wait to get into this lore, as it seems fascinating, and Bioware have always done a great job with lore. Thanks :wizard:

I'd recommend probably a mage, as long as you take someone to open chests (a rogue) and someone to take and deal damage up close you should be fine on the lower difficulties. Mages become obscenely powerful in the late game as well, so you're going to definitely wreak some havoc later.

As the poster above me says, a mage will be 'easiest'. But it involves a fair amount of spell casting etc so combat will be quite active.

If you just want to turn mobs into diced meat in as short a time as possible, with as little 'manoeuvring' as possible, try a Dual Wielding (two swords) warrior, and get the power momentum as soon as it is available. Then, equip the best weapons you have and you won't need to use a different talent every few seconds as the 'auto attack' is just so damned powerful. Set the game to the easiest difficulty, pick your lowest-maintenance squad members (archer, healer and sword and shield warrior), set some basic tactics for them and off you go :)

I have to say I'm jealous, I wish I was playing through for the first time!

The DW Warrior is a good recommendation. Personally, I've never been able to complete a full playthrough with one yet... it is too boring for me. I learned how to play the game with a pure STR, talent spamming 2-handed warrior though. Just personal preference, ofcourse. A lot of people love DW's. I don't agree with the Mage recommendation. There are a lot of different spells to learn in this game. I'd mess with one of those when you have a better understanding of the game.

I'm with Bebuse, there's nothing like your first time... sweet memories...

Thanks for the replies guys - I'm thinking a 2H warrior is going to be the route. Gotta have something so I can use that nice Blood Dragon plate :)

Just remember that a 2H warrior is quite vulnerable early on in the game,

You don't have to wear it yourself, you can give it to a team member.

The easiest, and I also believe the most 'cannon' play, is a Male Human Sword and Shield. This is based on the game options near the end and the family heirlooms you acquire during the origin.

I have however done nearly every possible character type though. Here's my list of characters:

Hooray for 2 handers! If you've read any threads involving 2 handers on this forum then you should know to pump only STR. Get the Indomitable skill asap and run it at all times (once you play with this skill its hard to play without it as a Warrior). Spam your talents - sunder arm and armor, mighty blow, sweep when surrounded by enemies. You don't want to auto attack with a 2 handed warrior. Win the game. That's pretty low maintenance. Have fun!

I don't want to spoil anything so I won't mention which weapons or armor to look for unless you want to know.
