So if people hate Ashley because they think she's "racist", then why do they like Wrex and Javik?

You're an idiot.

No, I'm actually smart, like, REALLY smart, but that is beside the point. If you want to think that NO ONE dislikes Ashley because of her religious beliefs, go ahead and think that, but it isn't true. Some people do hate her because of her beliefs. That's how some poeple think.

Right...
Actually her religious views are annoying because she expresses them in
a "You must be an idiot if you can't see the same thing as me" manner.

No she doesn't. She briefly mentions it in the first game, and offers some justification for what seems to be an old fashioned view. I don't remember any point where she rubs it in anyones face.

That
contradicts the fact that other religious characters like Thane and
Padok Wiks (for those who've heard of him) are generally well liked by
the BSN community.

I can't speak for Padok Wiks, but Thane's religion is viewed was made up by Bioware, it doesn't represent a real view held by billions of people. As such, people do not have the hostility or fear towards it that they do towards religions that people practice in real life.

Actually Assley aid something along the lines of "Hello, how can you people see all of this {space and ****} and not beleive in something" Which struck me as very closed minded and backwards even for today much less a hundred+ years in the future.

Padok Wiks as I recall merely suggested that there was more to evolution than random chance, this probably makes him a deist. Unwittingly this describes most people's religious attitudes, or at least in my are of England.

Thane sounds very much like the antiquity pantheons and paganism, so yes we do have corrolaries the fct that you say a deathbed prayer and most people do (myself, an atheist included) should suggest how litle that phased anyone even though he was basically praying for your own soul or the drell equivelent much as I've heard christians offer to me. Probably would've accepted if lickeng them would get me high. Image IPB

joking or not, the drug reference really shows your intelligence/maturity, not that anything before that could be uderstood anyway with all the gramatical errors and poor sentence structure.

Considering I've participated in many disscussions across the boards here for years and you're the only person to complain about my grammar or sentence structure I doubt it. If it really is a problem ask me to explain and I will gladly do so.

Also it's called a joke, lighten up. By the way how does debating the merits of a fictional character for our own amusment sound like poe-faced maturity to you?

Wrex wasn't as spiteful as Ashley. And despite the fact that Shepard is forced to equate the First Contact War with the genophage in ME1...it's not the same.

Javik...no idea, I don't have the DLC

Ashley being religious was just another nail in the coffin for her already neurotic, self absorbed, Reaper-sized-chip-on-her-shoulder character. Kudos to BW for creating a character so fundamentally (haha!) unlikable in every way. I'd happily admit to disliking her for her religious views but like the unsightly warts on the mechanic who just accidentally blew up your car's engine, they're not the biggest problem present.

That's actually a great point. Thane's religiousness wasn't bothersome (to me anyway) because his prayers were actually pretty cool and instead of beating you over the head with his views or using them to justify his asinine behavior he keeps them to himself. Ashley links herself to very real people I have to vote against regularly to keep insanity from becoming law, exempla gratia, anti-abortion measures.

Javik and Wrex are dedicated to believes that can be reasoned with. Boths believes are centered around what they have experienced. And they may experience something that forces them to change their believes. Ashleys believes does not contain such compromises. She believes in a god and that her life is dedicated to do as he says even if that might be evil. And you cant change what a god said and we all know he wont come down and change it in game.

Edit: Also she was a little racist for no reason.

Quotes where Ash uses her faith to justify her actions please. Evidence on what religion she follows and how she beats you over the head with them please.
Oh that's right, there is none. You heard some vague mention of "God" and flipped out because anyone who has a belief that could possibly be one of the common ones to have on earth must be evil right?

Check your reading comprehension. You took two things I was talking about - and clearly separated - and combined them into something you could compain about. I said Ashley was religious and was yet another facet of her personality I couldn't stand. Then, in response to someone else about Thane, I mentioned how his religious views were acceptable because he wasn't in your face or anyone else's about it. You thought I was comparing him to Ashley but again, your reading comprehension fails because I was talking about real life people. In real life, people do try to beat you over the head with their religious views and use them to justify doing things like oh, I don't know, murder and worse.

The only one flipping out is you, for apparently little to no reason. And I never called Ash evil, I simply stated the obvious: she's annoying as all hell for a multitude of reasons. Sorry if you can't accept my disdain for theists but if you're going to be ornery at least comprehend the little letters I'm stringing together here.

Synthetics will seek the destruction of all organic life. The catalyst himself says so.

Krogan are unable to control their breeding, are obsessed with killing, and lack higher brain functioning that humans, Asari, and other civilized races posses. They are animals. However, they are the most dangerous animals in the galaxy and therefore must be destroyed.

Okay then let us read that other bit together shall we?:

I'd happily admit to disliking her for her religious views but like the unsightly warts on the mechanic who just accidentally blew up your car's engine, they're not the biggest problem present.

Oh will you look at that. You're accusing Ash of being a fundamentalist. Don't play the "lol only a joke" card. You're putting it in the middle of a flurry of insults. It's clear you mean it as a jab to her beliefs.
I only cut the rest of the post and it's quotes to avoid a pyramid. Not because I didn't get it. I got it just fine. Your post was you going on about how much extra you hate one human character because she believes in "God" (not any religion mind, just God)
You moved on to say alien dude is perfectly okay because he doesn't force it on you.....unlike SOME people.
Okay fair enough. That could mean anyone.....except for oh I don't know....

Therefore you are saying she's one of those people you're talking about in the second bit. As you mention her and claimed she's linked to them. That's what linked means! Do you understand the little letters YOU'RE using before you have a go at me.
My reading comprehension's fine. So good in fact I didn't struggle when reading between the lines of what you were saying.
Next time before you panic that you've been caught out. Think about what you're going to respond with to get away with it before posting.

If you hate theists, then you are a bigot. Simple as that.

Like I said, she defended why she believes what she did "keep in mind this is right after she timidly asked, "That's not a problem, is it?" It is no more pushy than an athiest saying, "I don't believe in things that can't be proven"

I don't hate Ashley because she's racist, while its not an endearing quality its certainly not why I hate her. I hate her because she is a whinny ****, I mean shes at it all the time shes worse than Steve.

I never thought Wrex was particularly racist, and while Javik is racist his accent makes him sound like a fun guy.

I don't even get why people says she's racist ? I mean, in ME3 ? Yes she's quite xenophobic in ME1 because she represents a side of the humanity of 2183, but that's it; she grew up, and she became more open-minded as the time goes on

Evidence that "a" God/s doesn't exist please.

Don't throw things out like you're the king of facts. You're not Steven Fry, don't try to be. Not "hating" theists but calling all them deluded is still being a bigot.
Stop giving atheists a bad name. You're the reason why a FEW theists in this world react poorly to atheists.
