First, she isn't racist.
Yes, but after all that doesn't Ashley say "case-closed"? She did for me.
Second, Ashley was supposed to have more conversations on the Normandy, and also extra branches to her normal existing dialogue. All of her stuff got cut or toned down. Here's a scene which Patrick Weekes still thinks is in the game, but it's not. Shows how much Bioware know about their own game, huh?
- Yes, because "I can't tell the aliens from the animals" isn't racist. She is racist, because she doesn't like aliens. Wrex and Javik are also racist, because they don't like salarians/turians/primitives. She gets over this in ME3, but it doesn't change the fact that she was judging all turians/aliens because of what happened with her grandfather. It would be different if she hated the turians her grandfather surrendered to, but she spreads her dislike to all aliens, even if she's more subtle than, say, Pressly.
- I'm not sure of this scene. Is it the first one at the hospital after she wakes up? If so, she still immediately reverses her thinking when you approach the Council. Understandable? Sure. It's just rather irking when she spends her entire first mission whining at you about how you were with Cerberus even as she watches you gun down Cerberus troops.
- Even so, it's not in the game. In the official, released game, she does absolutely nothing but sit around. I wish she had gotten more screentime after she joins you on the Normandy, because I find her to be interesting even if I don't like her all that much.
