So if people hate Ashley because they think she's "racist", then why do they like Wrex and Javik?

Because they are not Ashley.

When was she insubordinate, rude, or snappy? Only instance I can think of is the latter when the non-Alliance personnel attempt to dictate the mission (in debriefings). She's perhaps overly defensive of Shepard's position of authority, taking suggestions for actions as mandates, but the aliens have been running rough shod over humanity since they arrived so it's not an entirely baseless assessment.
She's rude all the time. Every time you questioned her - even the innocent enquiries - she gets all defensive as though she's being threatened. OK, maybe not insubordinate but she has a superiority complex.
Umm no. Psychopathy is a specific mental condition with a definitive meaning. Ashley demonstrates almost none of the characteristics associated with psychopathy nor does she exhibit those which she does possess to any excessive degree. I'll agree she doesn't come across as great leadership material but then neither do Garrus or Tali and look where it got them. And people wonder why the galaxy's such a mess.
Lack of empathy. Self-absorbtion. Perfect examples of psychopathy. Besides I said "nearly."

If you haven't talked to Dr. Tsoni, you probably should. She just lost her mom. That has to hurt.

The last two games have really done her character a disservice.
Original ME Ashley was one of my favourite female characters in video games ever, ME3 Ashley I can't even stand to look at without cringing.
Most of my playthroughs have Ash alive, because I always liked her better than Kaidan. Now I kinda wish I'd saved Kaidan more often if only for the fact that he bothers to wear some kind of actual Alliance clothing and not a ridiculous self-made cosplay-ish uniform thingy.
Whoever responsible for the changes in her design... failed hard.

'Case Wrex and Javik have a hilarious, dry sense of humor. That's their "Saving the cat" trait. They're douchebags, yeah, but there's an endearing quality that makes you like them nonetheless.
Ashley is just a ****.
This.

So what you people are saying is that it's ok to be a racist as long as you're funny about it?
Yes.
More specifically we are saying that racism is a quality that can be overlooked.

Because they are not Ashley.
Wrex isn't racist. He distrusts Salarians and Turians, but he seems to like Shepard just fine, and wow, Shepard's not Krogan. I can't imagine why he might distrust Salarians and Turians. Funny how this logic works though, Wrex distrusts alien species that inflicted the Genophage on his people, and then planted a big ass bomb and used the Shroud to keep the Genophage working as intended, so he's racist. Ashley is distrustful of all aliens because they're aliens, and she's not racist.
Javik isn't racist at all. He works just fine with all the primitives, and can even give a really inspiring speech on the Citadel. Of course he views us all as primitive, when he went into his stasis pod 50,000 years ago, we were primitive. Twisted logic is twisted?
ETA: I don't think Ashley is racist, but after ME 2, I just don't like her.

The lesson I've taken from this thread: racism and hatred are a-okay with people so long as you're funny or like puppies or some ****. Got it.
Wanted to say the same!
This is an example of this thread:
So, you're in a bus, and some guy comments on another guy about his skin-color. (in a bad way)
You do the same to the same guy. (in a bad way)
You got punched in the face for being racist.
The other guy starts laughing with the guy who punched you.
You ask the guy who punched you: What the hell? He said the same thing about you!
And the guy says: Yeah, but he's funny. You're not. So you're a racist.
Say waht??

It's funny, but what I took away from this thread is exactly what I posted before: Wrex is supposed to be considered racist, or more accurately specieist, for distrusting species that did indeed earn some level of distrust, but Ashley, who distrusts aliens simply because they're aliens, isn't specieist. Yes, I made up a word, because racist doesn't really seem to fit very well with my understanding of the concept. However, for the sake of this conversation, if distrusting is all it takes to qualify as a racist, then Ashley is just as guilty of it as anyone else, and for less reason, if she really has a reason. Because her grandfather surrendered to the Turians, all aliens are bad? I'd really like to have the actual story to that, instead of Ashley's colored view of it, all things considered. Maybe her grandfather really was a coward? All we know is what Ash tells us, and considering how she is, I think we're missing a good amount of detail.obZen DF wrote...
