I am an unabashed Penny Arcade fanboy. I've been reading their comics and visiting their website for years now. I've also been able to meet Gabe and Tycho (Jerry and Mike in real life) and other PA staffers at PAX and they are all great guys and gals.

A number of months ago, I pitched the idea that we should work with Penny Arcade to create a Dragon Age: Origins webcomic. Since BioWare is an office full of geeks who also read PA, the DAO team readily agreed. So Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw and I flew down to Seattle to meet with the Penny Arcade team to go over some ideas and install copies of Dragon Age for them to play through (we wanted to make sure they understood the world they would be working in).

Working with Jerry and Mike was great. Jerry (the writer 1/2 of the team) and Mike Laidlaw both hit it off throwing obscure references to past tabletop games at each other. Mike (the artist 1/2), who admits to being more Sci-Fi than Fantasy, readily grasped the concept and style we were looking for and quickly sketched out how the pages would break down.

Together, BioWare and Penny Arcade have created Witch Hunt where a group of Templar knights will soon get more than they bargained for as they venture through the Korkari Wilds.

We'll have new pages up each week for eight weeks until the tale is told. Also check back tomorrow when we'll have a Q&A up with Gabe and Tycho and what they thought of Dragon Age: Origins.

You know, you would figured the Templar masters would those pupils to tuck their chins in just for the occasion of sword in throat.

Quick recap:

Ser Redshirt freaked out and got killed by Ser Buckethead.

Now the templars are getting their buttoxes kicked by Flemeth and Morrigan.

And lots of people discussing about the killing of Ser Redshirt.

Though I love PA ... this just doesn't do anything for me.

But I'm picky ... and I love their On a Rain Slick Precipice games hehe.

Though I am glad to see they wanted to make a comic!

I'm assuming they could've used that templar that was slain by his comrade.

The art work is excellent, but it is a drag waiting a week for each page. Hopefully when it is all finished we will see it as a much better comic than we do now.

I love the PA comics, it really brings the Templars to life. The way they are in the comic is exactly how I expect them to be in the game. Absolute faith, no compromise.

Interesting they (Templars) way they seem to be getting a beat down there...

Are they really just bullies or are they really the things of nightmare to mages?

I really like the addition of the PA comic and the serious tone, at least so far, it takes. They seem to really have grasped that this isn't the cookie cutter fantasy world and it has its own rules.

Thanks guys.

This particular group seems both too fanatical to think straight and facing an opponent that's out of most templars' league. They would be quite nightmarish to anyone but Flemeth - even to non-mages, apparently.

I assume that the Templars would be excellent against a traditional opponent, but Flemeth is a bit above and beyond most, from the looks of things.

Dear maker, protect me!
Your avatar character is the single most ugliest thing I've seen of dragon age yet, bravo good sir, you have topped the brood mother!

And yet, I cannot... stop.. watching...

The comic has gotten my psyched for this... And it really makes me hate the Templars... nothing pisses me off more then blind faith... I may just play a blood mage just to become a mortal enemy of the Templars.

How can we compare this work Bioware has done with the PR with other developers? They give us Dragon age journeys, Marilyn Manson sex violence trailers, a social site, dev tools, the wiki tome, and so on.
It´s OUTstanding. Very well done Bioware.
I will read all of those comics now, thanks for gatherin them here,

As already noticed by some, Page 7 is now up in which Morrigan plants a Templar.
