The comic doesn't rally provide moral ambiguity or any real insight. Templars are portrayed as ingorant, stupid, ineffective and incompetent - you'd expect more from a elite mage-killing unit.
The witches themselves? What negative was shown about them? The comic practicly pushes you to take the witches side.
you might say "But they played the game" and "Bio allwoed hte comic". Bah. That means nothing. Just look at the polarization on the forums before the game is even release. You got your "mages will rule! Death to the Chantry!" on one side adn "For the Maker! Purge the mages!" on the other. Do you think PA is immune to this? What if Tycho played the game with a heavy bias agaisnt the Chantry(and templars) to start with?
The comic makes litle sense. Is it possible that there really are templars like that? Yes. They aren't paragons of virtue. But do you really expect me to belive that a dysfunctional bunch like this would be sent after a legendary witch?
Ser Buckethelm would probably be guarding the Divines chamber pot.
I expected to see zeloatry and questionable deeds on the templar side...but this? Fail.

Yeah. I keep hoping that, in the actual game, the themes explored through the relationship between templars and mages go beyond annoyingly cliche angst against "dumb" religious zealotry.

I whole-heartedly agree with you. I'm not that religious, but I usually tend to play classes like Paladin's, Cleric's, and other "holy-warrior" based hybrids when playing role-playing games. Now, I do understand that the Templar's obviously lack a moral code, but most media related to the Templar's thus far has always shown them in a negative light. (If not all media)
Yes, Templar's are faith-driven zealots, but surely they can't be as incompetent as everyone is making them out to be.

And since Chantry is a religion similar to the church and the Templars are part of the Chantry and share a name with an existing order.... cue the hate and bias.

EDIT: Hmm, this is the old comic before Origins was released, isn't it? It just HAD to have the same title as the upcoming DLC. I was getting excited <_<

When in doubt, just stick the /dao after the .com
Of course all the page links are broken, so you have to repeat that addition for every page.
