I used the international response to World War One as my case study for how people respond when faced with unprecedented slaughter on a grand scale. Generally, nations (planets in the ME universe) became isolationist/insular and constructed absurd defensive networks (such as the Maginot line) to stave off future aggression.

ugh. good god no, it was bad enough when they got "Gears" in my my Mass Effect, I don't need them to mix in some Fallout, just so everything looks like Omega (crap).

No problem with your dissenting opinion, but just wondering: At what point did Gears of War taint ME? Aside from the cover based third person shootery.

Just wondering, besides space debirs and citadel pieces, to what extent will Earth be showing the damage of the Reaper War. As in how rebuilt are the cities, how large or small the population is, democratic or millitary led planet.
And, yeah, it does make sense that the Alliance would have reconstructed cities, I think I may have just over-estimated the damage or under-estimated consturction times.

@walrusVI
The cities are in pretty good shape, but less impressive, reconstruction efforts are still visible.
As far as the population:
The Reaper War killed about 70% of all humans galaxy-wide, considering the fact that a majority of human colonies fell that seems like a plausible number.
Currently (2217): Earth's population is 6.8 Billion, Down from 11.4 billion Pre-Reapers, but up from 3.7 Billion in the immediate aftermath of the Reaper War.
Very few national governments survived the Reaper War, and the Systems Alliance take over of most global affairs was welcomed. The government is a Military Dictatorship masquerading as a democracy. People vote on issues in an e-Democracy (as the Asari did) but the Alliance Emergency Authority Council has veto power and uses it frequently. That being said, as dictatorships go, the Alliance is fairly benevolent.
In the immediate aftermath of the Reaper War, under Admiral Hackett's orders, asylum was offered to any aliens who fought with the Alliance and wished to live on Earth. A few thousand took the offer, but most wanted to return to their homeworlds (what they were fighting for) and start rebuilding. The Alliance patched up their ships as best they could and gave each fleet a Quantum Entanglement communicator so that they could report their location to Earth on a regular basis, in case they needed to regroup and fight some future threat. Current records show that no Alien fleet has made it home yet, progress is slow but steady. The fact that Earth has records of all fleet locations makes it stop #1 for the MSV Normandy SR3, who needs that info.

Nope. Your ending builds off the crappy endings and thus the crappy endings have to be canon. I can't accept that.

just read the OP and the last (7th) page.
I like the idea, though i think it would make more sense as a Fanfic. Creating Codex-Articles etc. just to post it here seems like a bit of a waste. Why not combine the two? Post the Codex here, and a Fanfic where that world is explored in addition?
After all, if you don't have a life ....

I... I... I just can't, I acknowledge it's a brilliant concept, but I can't. I can't accept it, not yet, not when we got this far. Thinking of ME4 when I have my brain filled with hatred towards ME3's ending, I just can't accept that ending to set a stage for any future for the Mass Effect Universe.
I am sorry, I am unable to be reasonable this time.

just kidding .It's a cool concept, but I just don't see it happening.

Hello all, would you rather have the game's pacing focus on gathering fleets like ME3 or recruiting squadmates a la ME2?

I'm sorry. You did some good, solid work here.
But the simple fact is, I can't care about the universe anymore. Everything that made it what it was is over. Mass Effect is dead.
I'm sorry. But expanding from that ending is like grooming a dead horse. You can pretty it up, but you can't bring it back to life.
