an epic sci-fi story with a galactic war theme.
look like I got a sick philosophy and RGB theme instead.
If you didn't buy ME 3 for art, why DID you buy it for?

For escapism and enjoyment, it failed on both accounts (just like a NY investment banker).

Entertainment. For the record, I didn't go see Pirates of the Caribbean for art either.

I bought for interactive entertainment. I wanted an enjoyable experience in the form of the ending of a saga I have been playing for several years now.

To finish my story with the pieces they provided, and entertainment.
I had this weird notion of supporting a company that gave me such a great setting to experience and enjoy but... they kinda blew it up. Makes me not wanna play with them again incase they do it again.

I bought it for the fabric patch that comes with the collector's edition.

To be an enjoyable gaming experience that built upon the enjoyable experiences of ME1 and ME2 which, in turn, worked because they encouraged a sense of identity with the protagonist and then provided the ability for the protagonist to emerge victorious against impossible odds. You know, the entire basis for the popularity of the earlier games.
If I want art, I go to a museum. I have yet to see a video game that one can call art.

I bought it cause I'm invested in the story and the universe, nothing more.
I'm not very interested in the art or not art video game debate.

Art or not it doesn't matter. With art, if it's nice you buy it, if it's not you don't. The difference here is we have to buy it on faith and what they tell us. We don't know what we're getting until after we pay for it. Therefore they have to stay true to the promises they made, otherwise, they got our money on false pretenses. The endings are most certainly NOT what they promised.

Entertainment? Escapism? I started Mass Effect 1 hearing about how your choices would play out in the final games conclusion, that it was not only a unique story, but through each game more and more endings with all your decisions weighing in would happen in the end.
I played Dues Ex Human Revolution and snapped the disc after the endings.
Then I got ME3... I know they said they like taking from different game influences... But to copy them?

This one bought it to see the conclusion of a story, and be entertained. Exactly what this one got right up until the last ten minutes.

I bought it because it was a PRODUCT bioware released to follow up on previous excellent products/games. ME1 and ME2. I figured ME3 would give me the Epic feel of ME1 along with the decisions mattering like ME2. The fetch quests to a minor extent and the ending to a large extent betrayed these expectations by going in the complete opposite direction of what I thought would be the epic conclusion to the series. That if I did everything right, I could have a happy ending to go with this epic conclusion. That did not happen sadly.

Was actually pleasently surprised through first 99.9% as I got a good dose of reflection-inspiring quotes and some "background noise" actions & exchanges between characters that was "good-book level" feeling evoking.

Did people seriously buy this game just for the ending? Did people go into ME3 thinking, "Sure I'm gonna be bored for 30 hours but the ending is gonna be awesome!" I bought ME3 for the whole game, not just for the last few minutes.
